Summary

What if the greatest role of your life is playing your true self?

Ida Burton used to be Hollywood’s sweetheart until the best roles started drying up in her 40s.

When Ida lands one of the leads in a big-budget lesbian rom-com, it's not only a chance at reviving her dwindling career. Maybe this movie can be an opportunity to finally burst out of the closet she's forced herself into.

Faye Fleming has been at the top of her acting game and collecting awards for the past few years. When she's cast in a huge blockbuster opposite the legendary Ida Burton, she's over the moon.

Ida and Faye hit it off. The chemistry on set is through the roof...until their characters' first kiss.

Best-selling lesbian romance author Harper Bliss brings you a feel-good story about finding the courage to follow your heart.

the message

I didn't like the start being bias against the pay actors get, but I warmed to the characters, and most of all the message, the more famous people who are out or come out ,, the more people in normal life can feel comfortable to do so, I'm straight, my first gay friend was in the late 70s, we've had gay babysitters and gays in extended family, and I've seen more hurt pain and anger in straight people, so who's in the right relationship, take people as who they are, live and let live, this world is too small and life too short to worry about who loves who.

WORST NARRATOR EVER!!!!

Oh my good god, I can’t even listen to this. The person reading it has the most annoying tone and put on posh voice. Every sentence sounds the same regardless of how it should sound. Do not waste your money on this. Don’t even know if the story is good because I can’t care to listen to it.

Loved it...

What an enjoyable book... The path you take bringing life changing decisions...internal battles...but then you have the discovery of raw emotions, passion & love overtaking it all... the need and want to be true to yourself...

They are both lovely characters... how I picture them both in my mind... how I see that kiss...feel that kiss... getting lost in the excitement of it all... the desire of belonging...

5*

Abby Craden has yet again narrated beautifully... I have to put her at the top! The best narrator by far... she really knows how to engage her audience.. how to provoke emotions and reactions... wow...

Glamour.

After cops and docs a bit of Tinsel Town glamour is more than welcome. Loved the writing, coming even more alive by the narration of AB.

My new favourite lesfic book!

It's just so well written and narrated. Great portrayal of someone leaving the closet and all the uncertainties of starting a relationship with someone new to the idea of being attracted women. Just brilliant!

Good story great narration

This was my first read from Harper Bliss and I chose this specifically because it was low/no angst. I don’t regret the purchase.. but I wasn’t blown away by the story either. It was predictable and cute. Dialogue heavy too. Bordered on preachy regarding the coming out process.

I also wasn’t fully sold on the romance between the two women. Fay’s emotions/thoughts about Ida didn’t exactly seem realistic to me. Her thoughts, at times, felt like a narration of how the author *wanted* you as a reader to see Ida. At the end, I didn’t feel like I truly got to walk with Fay in her journey to her decision - how she got there.

Overall, it was a good book that I don’t regret purchasing. I’d buy another book from this author. Abby Craden did a fabulous job narrating.

Also, just a note for those looking.. some people say this author is steamy. I can only speak for this book, but I didn’t find it very steamy. It had a two good scenes, but… I personally would not say it was particularly explicit… probably middle of the road. Definitely not FTB though,

Romcom with a taste realism

Up beat and enjoyable. I certainly hope this story is close to some lesbians couples reality. Abby once again gives a terrific narration. Harper Bliss once again writes an awesome story

Excellent read

Harper Bliss knows how to write a good romance book there is no doubt about it, and Abby Craden is an excellent narrator, we all agree about that, so the combination of the two creates a pleasure.
it would have been easier if there were two narrators but I still enjoyed this book to the fullest.

Another Classic

Ida Burton is almost 50 years old and a very closeted Hollywood Star. When she gets a staring role bin a lesbian romcom it’s her chance to be courteous and come out. Faye Fleming is at the top of Hollywood’s A-list when she gets the starring role opposite Ida Burton, legendary Hollywood Sweetheart. Their friendship builds intensely and the attraction is growing but Faye is sure that she’s straight. Or is she. Abby Craden is a master at making Harper Bliss books come to life.

If only 💕

First, I will start with a question, Is there anything better than the team of Harper Bliss and Abby Craden 👍🏻.
While couched in the form of a semi lighthearted Rom-com, this story really is about and the grief and fear that shroud the decision to “out” yourself that all gay men and woman confront when they decide it’s time for them to do so.
Imagine then, the pressure one might experience, when that decision may have a make or break impact on a multi million dollar endeavor, especially one involving the entertainment industry, in this case a movie, where the future of the protagonists and their production, rests upon the public’s reaction to their favorite stars revealing the truth about their sexuality.
I think that the story ends beautifully when one character asks the other why things need to be this way, when in fact, the bewildering question needs to be answered by the listener.
Thanks for a delightfully sweet experience built upon very serious societal issues, which demand change.

Coming Out Later In Life

This was a good listen and I found myself reluctant to set it aside to do other things. I've listened to a similar story before so I was hoping this wouldn't seem like a rehash. It didn't. It was emotional, relatable and steamy all in one.

Adore this sweet book.

As a huge movie buff, this heartfelt story marks all the spots for a love story. A huge smile is what’s left on my face after all Harper Bliss books. The romance and upbeat plot is just what the doctor ordered.

Perfection

Harper Bliss books always leave me spellbound. She has a remarkable gift creating these fabulous characters that you fall in love with and just wanna hug and get to know. This book about two Hollywood starlets falling for one another whilst shooting a lesbian romcom and the deliciousness that the chemistry causes is such a fun read. Abby Craden's narration? Holy smokes. I mean- she also read for A Breathless Place and now this book? So amazing!! Her voice for each character really brings them to life and makes for an easy listening experience. There are a few steam your windows, fluff your shirt, turn on the AC scenes so do be aware of your surroundings should you be listening to this book through your car speakers! :) Never has my fave turned that red. To be safe- don't drive whilst listening to this book. Maybe park at a beach and experience the magic of Bliss and sandy ocean tides.
