About this listen
About Rage, a fast-paced psychological horror drama rife with twists and turns, explores the inner journey and murderous exploits of serial killer Emily Sand and her alter ego, the Rider. Emily must soon come to grips with a mysterious stranger entering her life. Has he been watching her every move...or watching over her? And if so, for what purpose?
Together with unlikely allies, including a therapist whom Emily abducted to better understand her compulsions, she confronts the betrayals and abuse of her past to navigate her present situation, and battle a seemingly omnipotent enemy.

I love a good serial killer book, but this one surpassed my expectations. Not only is the writing good, but there is a lot of psychological research and insight in this novel, with such a developmental arc for all the characters, unalived included (lol). I was sceptical of Emily at first and actually hated her a bit, but by the end of it, I really loved her and I would actually like to meet her.
This is a very deep psychological and emotional story, exploring the complexities of how Emily became a serial killer, including the grey areas around serial killers’ psyche, emotional state and all of the things we’ve come to know from psychology and true crime.
Apart from the plot, what I love about this book is that complexity and the undeniable fact that everyone is different, and no one (not even serial killers) can be put into a box with defined characteristics. Although we might be born a way, our experiences and relationships definitely shape how we evolve and how we cope with our environment, making up our behaviour somewhat.
I loved the ending and I’d love to see this story continue somehow, but I also know that how the events played out and how it ended, was perfect and I wouldn’t want to ruin my experience.
Read or listen to this book if you love a researched take on serial killers, with lots of layers and twists.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to listen to it and this is my honest opinion.
A female serial killer story like no other!
