About this listen

Do you enjoy vampire love stories from around the world? If so, you will really enjoy Aalia’s Choice: A Vetala Vampire Love Story from India.

The story has been derived from excerpts from Vikram and the Vampire by R.F. Burton and The House of the Vampire by G.S. Viereck. The new version of the story is based on the legend of the Indian vetala vampire, which has characteristics that are quite distinct from vampires in other parts of the world.

Spoiler-free summary:

Aalia had tried most of the dating apps and had even appeared on the Indian version of The Bachelorette, but true love always seemed to pass her by. She had even gone to a professional matchmaker, who had asked way too many questions and wanted a large fee.

So, she came to the conclusion that, with the help of her father, she could find a great match for herself. Aalia and her father decided that they would begin to accept applications from potential admirers, and they chose four candidates from Delhi and three other cities.

All of them were told to come early the next morning and to take part in the challenges that Aalia has prepared for them. When one of the admirers appears to have supernatural powers, Aalia is more curious and interested than ever. But does she need to be careful around this witty, intelligent stranger?
