After coming terrifyingly close to suicide, Jake Tyler was determined to take back control of his life from the clutches of depression.

With only a pair of walking boots and a backpack, he left his home town of Maldon and began a 3000-mile walk around the British mainland. In documenting every step of his adventure, Jake shares the ways in which his road to recovery was enhanced by the kindness of strangers, who helped him to better understand himself and the power of human connection.

This is both the story of Jake's lap of the UK and also of his journey to finding peace within himself and with the world around him.

A fantastic book, either as an enjoyable road trip or a support guide for mental health. Honest, inspiring and totally ruined the purpose of audiobooks for me,
Which is to send me to sleep... I couldn’t wait to turn out the lights and carry on my journey every night. Cheers Jake

Exceptionally inspiring, brutally honest, thought provoking and at times, even laugh out loud funny. The one thing that really stuck in my mind was how he talks about mental health and depression as being an ongoing battle - not something you can just 'cure'. so finding the things that help you to deal and manage with it each day is what will get us through. Thank you for doing what you did Jake and having the courage and skill to share how you have. You're a brilliant human and make this world a much better place

An absolute must read

I loved this book. Not only as an avid walker but as someone who knows of depression and its many facets. Inspirational and funny, dark and thought provoking. Whether have suffered with mental health problems, no someone that has or just want to hear about a journey though this great land… just listen. You’ll love it

I loved this book so much related so much to the mh health struggles. The book really connected me to a part of me that I thought had gone forever the ability to trust in myself and the goodness in kind strangers. After a traumatic relationship all that trust had gone but Jake's book helped me find it within myself also building in basic self care routines I'm now doing yoga twice a day. I was sad when the book ended I didn't want it to end . I hope there is another book In Jake he is amazing kind human being.
