Death is the last lover you will ever know.
SOA Special Agent Patrick Collins has lived a life full of lies, and it has finally caught up with him. There’s no denying his past any longer, not after giving up the truth to save himself from a murder charge. But truth alone can’t set Patrick free, and time is running out to stop the Dominion Sect from turning his father into a god.
Jonothon de Vere knows survival isn’t a guarantee, but he’s desperate to keep Patrick safe, even as hope slips through his fingers. With the future unknown, Jono will follow Patrick wherever he goes, even to Salem, where a family reunion reveals a bitter secret that was never going to stay buried.
With New York City under control of their god pack, Patrick and Jono must fall back on every alliance they’ve brokered to fill the front lines of a war coming directly to the city streets. The veil is always thinnest on Samhain, and what awaits them on the other side is the stuff of nightmares. For when it tears, all hell will break loose, and the gods will be summoned to face a reckoning the world isn’t ready for.
The stakes have never been higher, failure has never been so deadly, and the Fates have never been kind to heroes. Patrick knows that better than anyone - because everything has a price, every debt always comes due, and it’s finally time for Patrick to pay his.

I really enjoyed it and had a good time. BUT in the end, I think it's an okay book. I guess I expected more or something different.
Gary Furlong also did an amazing job as always!
A bit disappointed

These books are epics. They take the overarching good versus evil, and break it down granularly into Patrick and Jono versus all the ill that exists in the world. That’s quite a task. And the couple have made friends along the way, so they’re not alone. They’ve also made a few enemies as well, and many of those join in the pitch battle for the souls of the good. Along the way, Patrick loses someone dear to him and that nearly broke me. I understood why this character had to die, but it still hurt.
In the end, though, Patrick has to fight Ethan for dominion and that means dealing with his twin sister. Patrick went for twenty years thinking Hannah was dead. Once he discovers the horrors she’s endured during that time, his guilt intensifies. Only he can end her suffering. I’d somehow hoped Hannah would get a happy ending, but after twenty years of horrific abuse, how is happiness even possible? To pay off his soul debt, Patrick has to return Macaria to her parents. That’s quite an ask. Oh, and he has to do it alone.
Jono is not happy being left behind after the battle. He settles back into life with Sage, his dyer, and Wade, the dragon shifter who is still eating them out of house and home. In case you couldn’t tell, Wade is the comic relief. Patrick traveled across the veil during Samhain. Time is different in the other world, so the wait is doubly painful for Jono. But Patrick is determined to make it back to his mate. So what happens when Persephone offers to sever the soulbond between the mage and the werecreature? Well, you’ll have to listen to find out.
OMG, this is so much going on in this book. The overarching theme of good versus evil is viewed through numerous lenses and rarely is it straightforward. The gods have their ways of dealing with mortals, and Patrick’s job is to keep the world safe. Not a small task. But he has Jono, so it makes success a possibility.
So the series is over. I’ll be sorry to see it go. I have to give a huge shout out to Gary Furlong who has shone through the entirety of the books. His narration was amazing, and between his voice and Ms. Turner’s words, I was mesmerized. I might even go back to do a re-listen now I have a better idea of the mythology. Should have paid more attention in the ninth grade. Definitely recommend.
