Critic reviews

"Devastating, deceptive and darkly funny. Classic Cannon." (Sarah Winman)

‘A compellingly crafted, darkly funny and compulsive read, full of twists – and twists on twists – that keeps you guessing until the last page...a joy and a triumph." (Rachel Joyce)

"Compellingly creepy, with precisely observed characterisation, A Tidy Ending combines pathos with lovely ashes of humour and a wholly unexpected ending." (Guardian)

The narrator is absolutely brilliant & made Linda, the main character come to life. Completely off the wall! I’m off to search other titles by Joanna Cannon because she is a hidden gem.
One more thing…. If like me you have to be in the “mood” for a genre especially this kind of dark, honestly you don’t!

I never expected to laugh so much!

Brilliant writing

This kept you guessing to the end, the narration was great, the accents were really good, and an interesting story. I might seek out the short story the narrator did also with this author

Loved the reader

For a long time I really didn’t know what to think of this one , it seemed a bit all over the place.
Yes there was a whodunnit, and some rather dark humour.
But at the end it all made sense and it’s actually a very clever story.
I loved the extra conversation with the narrator and author at the end. How interesting that she had based the main character on the narrator’s voice.

It all makes sense in the end

I really loved this book. It made me laugh at times, and sometimes made me sad. It also gave me a surprise. The author is so very perceptive, and there were many incidents and references which I could relate to and recognise. I have read Joanna Cannon’s other two novels, but I think I may listen to them as audio books, as a good narrator ( like this one) brings out nuances that can be overlooked. I’ve listened to a lot of poorly written books recently as fillers while I’m waiting for my next great listen, so when it comes along, I really do appreciate it. Thank you Joanna Cannon and Lissa Berry!

Beautifully written, and brought to life by the narrator.
