I was intrigued by the premise of the story, but it didn't pull me in like I thought it would. I didn't really connect with the FMC, Scarlett. It's the third book in the series and I feel like I might have enjoyed it more if I'd read the previous ones that Scarlett appears in because it felt like I was missing some context. I didn't really get invested till about two-thirds of the way through when the story gets emotional, with Dylan talking about his past and the mystery plot really starts to take shape. It also has a light romance subplot, which has a very slow build up and doesn't really feature until the last 3rd of the book, so if you pick it up for the romance, you'll probably be disappointed.

I enjoyed the narration for the most part. the narrator did a great job giving the different characters distinct voices that fit their personality. Only thing is I felt she made Dylan sound older than he was, kind of gruff, like someone in their mid to late 40s. Both main characters are in their early 20s, I think.

If you're looking for a cozy scottish small town mystery with lots of comedy, and a dash of romance. you might like this.

Lots of humour, really good narration

I read the ebook some time ago and I loved it, but the outstanding narration (Charlie Albers) makes the audiobook even better. The story is great fun, the mystery is well plotted and interesting, the romance is totally cute, and I loved the characters. A joy to listen to!

A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own.

Outstanding narration.

This audiobook was fun to listen to but also a little odd. There are layers upon layers to the story which makes it complex. Parts of it were entirely predictable while other developments in the plot were a complete surprise. The characters are remarkable but that is balanced by their backstories that tempered their oddities.

This is the third book in the Heather Bay series though it was completely fine reading it without having read the previous books. It is well narrated and overall enjoyable. That said, I hope there are more books coming because there are plenty of characters who have interesting stories to tell in this series.
