Summary

I could save him, but he would ruin me.

The beast.

The creature that stalks the forbidden wood.

The dragon prince.

He has suffered a fate worse than death. We all have. A curse put upon us by the mad king.

We are a kingdom locked in time. Shifters unable to feel our animals. Stuck here by a deal between the late king and a demon who seeks our destruction.

The only one keeping this kingdom alive is Nyfain, the golden prince to a stolen throne. The last dragon shifter.

He's our hope.

He's my nightmare.

When he catches me trespassing in the forbidden wood, he doesn't punish me with death, as he's entitled.

He takes me, instead. Forces me back to the castle as his prisoner. Seeks to use me.

Apparently, I can save him. I can save the whole forgotten kingdom, locked away by the demon king's power.

But it would mean taming the monster beneath his skin. It would mean giving myself to him.

It would mean my ruin.

This is a dark and spicy Beauty and the Beast retelling featuring an anti-hero, a strong heroine, and a humorous supporting cast. This is an enemies-to-lovers and possible fated mates story suitable for 18+. It's the first of a trilogy, ending on a cliffhanger.

Twisted fairytale

I love a twisted fairytale and this version of Beauty and the Beast by KF Breene was done it so well. Finley is a bad a$$ and she’s so funny she won’t let anyone or anything get in her way and if anyone does they will pay for their discretion . When she meets Nyfain he’s not very nice to her but she gives as good as she gets and it soon becomes apparent there’s a chemistry between them. I’m going to start ATOR now , I’m a big fan of the narrator under her usual name so it’s no surprise how well she narrates these books.

A Ruin of Roses

Great new story by K.F. Breane, this time about shifters fighting demons, and their magic. Nice beginning of a live story. Took a bit of getting used to Tillie Hopper's voice, but by the end loved it.

Something just doesn’t add up despite the components being good.

For me this book just didn’t gel. It might have been different had I read it rather than listening to it. Tillie Hooper does a very good job but despite the explicit steam, there’s something unsexy and flippantly superficial about it. Is it her voice? There’s too much -telling-without the story -showing -or -feeling. Nyfain’s praise of the female lead seems incongruous. Shortly after sort of insulting her. This can work, but it just didn’t work here in my opinion. The sexual intimacy feels out of place in the shallowness of the characters. The premise of the story seems great, the writing is good and still it just didn’t gel for me. The side characters were humorously written, but maybe it’s the delivery.. Having everything read by one female voice. Nyfain just sounded like a woman using a scratchy barely audible voice to embody a sexy brute. He just never got there. Re-reading this it sounds like I’m being really scathing and I don’t mean to be. It has great elements. I think I would have preferred if it had felt more historical. Despite princes and castles, the characters are completely modern and at one point sweat pants are mentioned. Just didn’t gel for me. It was incongruous.

Overall I loved it!

I've never heard of Breene, but after finishing this I just want to carry on with the next book in the series! I don't mind the sex scenes, though adult books such as this have never really been my thing. I still really enjoyed it!

Loved it!!

I have to admit the book was much better than I thought. After seeing mixed reviews I wasn’t sure even though I’ve enjoyed every book I’ve listened to by Miss Breene. It’s the first time I’ve listen to a book that is narrated by Tillie Hooper and I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait for the next book. 5 ⭐️ from me 😁

Review A Suspenseful, Humorous & Decidedly Delicious Steamy Read!😳😂😉🔥🌹
A Breath Of Fresh Air.🌟🌹
A Ruin of Roses (Deliciously Dark Fairytales, #1)

I'm not usually a big fan of Fairytales, however, when one of my 'must read' author's decides to take the plunge I'm obviously all in.👍 Oh my word, what a ride she's taken us on in this first book of this new series.😍

👑The Narrator deserves awards for her amazing work throughout this audiobook.👑

Nyfain is a hulking, brute of a man. He has patrolled the forbidden wood in his beast form since the mad King sold out the Realm to the Demon King.😡 The villagers only know he's brutal, can & will kill you if you are caught within its boundaries and that he tends to roam at night time!😳 Finley is a healer, reader, hunter & protector. She learns from books & has found a way to slow the demon curse that's been killing their loved ones for sixteen years, its not perfect but it's helping.🙏 Unfortunately one of the main ingredients can only be found on Royal grounds through the forbidden woods!😳🌿 She has three siblings, one older & two younger. They've already lost their Nana & Mum to the curse & their Dad is really ill with it too.😢

I found this story & world build refreshingly new, even though it's a twisted tale. It almost has a historical romance feel to the world build, for us as the reader. It would actually be classed as more dystopian, realistically, to the characters though. I found that so fascinating & masterful!😍 All of the characters felt sparkling & fresh. Hadriel is one of those hilarious side characters this author has become so well known for writing - Charles, Sanders, Penny, Bria & Niamh all have a new addition to their ranks in him.😍 I really liked the dynamic between Nyfain & Finley, they sizzle together, but also are clearly much more, hopefully!🙏💘🔥 The storyline is intriguing, and seems like it's going to become even more complex & is full of possibilities. So I'm really excited for book #2.🎉

(For those out there that may want to jump on the 'Oh it's an ACOTOR rip off', Please take a step back ✋ and read it first.🙏 Because you'll be proved totally wrong. This is an 18+ ONLY steamy, sweary, unapologetic read. It can, in no way, be confused with a YA or you'll have your eyes truly opened!Choo Choo 😂🌹)

🔊You've been warned!🔊

🔸If that doesn't put you off, then go & have a blast reading this complex, dark & deliciously hot read. You won't be disappointed!🌟😉🔸

Great story

I honestly really loved the humour in this as well as everything else . The narrator did a fantastic job all round and her impression of someone drunk was hilarious! I loved the characters and I’m going straight onto book 2.

Get Ready to get Tangled in the Thornes

Captivating, Dark and Steamy! This Tale has a very Beauty and The beast feeling... well if the Beast lived in a Castle full of Lusty demons that is!! Regardless, of its similarity to the classic tale, it still had a unique feel to it and I found that I couldn't put this one down. The Narrator and Audio quality was excellent only adding to the enjoyment. my only disappointment was that I have to wait fir the next book to find out what happens next!!
