Summary
Georgina, Princess of Wales, has always known her destiny, but she never expected duty to call so soon. When her father dies suddenly, she is called back from her Royal Navy post to assume the crown. While the people acclaim their new Queen, Great Britain's first openly gay monarch, all George feels is the isolation of her station.
Beatrice Elliot's staunch anti-monarchist views have always been a point of gentle contention with her working class, royalty-loving parents. When Bea, director of a hospice charity, must spend six months working with Queen Georgina, her charity's new patron, sparks fly and passion blooms. But is love enough to bridge the gap between Bethnal Green and Buckingham Palace?

poor naration
I love this story I have it on kindle and paperback and I was really looking forward for the audio version.
How disappointed.
the only way I could listen to this was to speed up the narration to X1.20. The narrator seemed incapable of any form of emotion.

Weird narrator
Not a terrible story but the narration ... Wow. Just wow. She made everyone sound like they were slightly autistic. Completely monotone throughout. No emotion displayed even when emotion was completely necessary. Very odd to listen to and I think if I was reading this book and could hear the voices in my head I would have actually enjoyed it far more. I definitely won't be getting any more books with this narrator.

Great story but.......
i loved the story but I find Jenny Frame's main character to me is just too butch. So much that it could be straight fiction, Including in the trousers. If I'm listening to Lesbian Fiction I don't want the mainly male attitudes & fake appendages. I don't mind Butch characters but Jenny's Characters are so butch they are straight men. Just my own preference & it ruins a great storyline for me.

A Royal Fairytale
I will be listening to the rest of this series, as this was book 1, which I did enjoy. I didn’t really know much about royals and I must admit, it did give me a sense of appreciation for what the royals do. The novel had romance and drama, with bits of humour and it was a fairytale love story.
I think the narrator did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life.
The only thing I did not like in this book was, the fireplace sex scene, I did have to skip that part. But apart from that I did enjoy the book.

Awesome.... first half
This one has potential--huge potential--to be a classic in the genre. The premise is old, but wonderfully done. The characters are immediately lovable, even the minor ones (although the voice of Georgie is all wrong--the rest of the narration is brilliant). All are fleshed out superbly. The details of royal life are charming and enlightening. I was completely wrapped in this story--right up until THAT point. You will know it when you get there. It just seemed out of character and thrown in for no reason at a point in the story that called for a different tack. I plodded past that, disappointed, but invested enough to see how it would all turn out. I thoroughly enjoyed the overall book, despite some clunky bits here and there, and I would recommend.

Quite Heteronormative For A Lesbian Novel.
Having the sex scenes involve eagerly sucking her penis was not a good thing. The rest of the book was good and felt like listening to an episode of 'Crown' but the book felt like a standard romance novel with the king, George, having a change in personal pronouns. This was saved by the inclusion of references to 'the first gay queen' and the cousin's use of pervert (though their real reason was heredity). This was all overlookable for the 'Crown Experience.
The narrator's voice was initially annoying (as they often start out) but got better as the book progressed. I was dissapointed that the second book (that I did not finish) used a different performer of lesser quality.
The sex scenes were irritating not just for their heteronormative description but more for constant use of the term 'her sex' to refer to her female parts when there are many safe nonvulgar ways to describe a mound or bush or vulva. The scifi use of intellifles was cute but having Bea eagerly sucking George's penis was really annoying.

A modern fairytale
This novel was too much fun. It had drama, romance and a set of charming characters.
Sure it was very over the top and dramatic, but that's what I love about a great fairytales romance like this
Loved it and recommend it.
I enjoyed the narration but it took a little getting used to because the queen speaks very deliberately and so it can be a little slow. But once I got used to that I loved it.

S. T.
I felt that this book had the potential to be a fun read, or in this case, listen; however, the overall story was fairly predictable and, honestly, stale. The fact that it was set in 2050 was a nice touch, and the author did a good job at seamlessly bringing you into the setting without too much compromise to the reader's realm of possibility. The inventions she came up with were also fun.
The downside was that the characters felt dry. I don't know whether this was due to the writing or the narration, both of which felt flat in my opinion. There were only a few moments in the narration that it actually seemed that the narrator was acting out the scenes instead of reading it off the paper in a rather bland manner.
I wouldn't say it was terrible. It was an alright book. Personally, it felt like a waste of $20 to me, but to each their own.
