Summary

Things are looking up for Detective Sanne Jensen and Dr. Meg Fielding. Dating each other seems to be working, their families are behaving themselves, and the worst of the post-Christmas crime wave is over.

The discovery of a Pakistani girl's body out on the moors changes all that. No one knows who she is, who hurt her, or how she came to be there. As pressure mounts on East Derbyshire Special Ops for a quick resolution, it becomes ever more apparent that the case won't provide one.

With the Pakistani community closing ranks, and threads of suspicion reaching farther than anyone could have predicted, the investigation leaves Sanne facing an ordeal she may not survive.

Excellent story telling and narration

I’m sorry this one is finished, I was gripped. I’ve come to love the characters in this series and hope there is more to come for Sanne and Meg. I love the stories and the genuine atmosphere created by the narrator. More please!

The Meg and Sanne stories just get better.

Another great book from Cari Hunter and again beautifully narrated by Nicola Victoria Vincent. If you like a good crime story you will certainly like the Dark Peak series of books. Can't wait for the next one!

Really brilliant listen

I thoroughly enjoyed the first 2 of the series and was pleased to start this one. I was not disappointed but I am now it's finished. The characters are like mates and I find myself caring about them and their families and friends. Great that Sannas boss figures more in this one. The narrator does a brilliant job and has judged the pace perfectly.

Great

All the books in this series have dealt with difficult topics but, running through them all has been a cast of wonderful characters. No spoilers from me. I just like to express my feelings for the writing and narration of of this lovely group. Would love more of them, but if that's my lot, so be it and thanks to all concerned in their production.

Side effects to reading: incresed heartrate

This series certainly gave my heart a good workout with the suspence on the crimes and the spanning relationship. Nothing straightforward about any of the three stories, you’ll be kept on your toes.

Loved the various connections to the main characters, between collegues and familymembers. And you really get pulled in with the description of the location, it really does fel like another player onnthis stage.

Quality author, complex narrative.

An expansive vocabulary utilized beautifully to describe evocative locations and believable characters who evolve through the novel.

They are just getting better...

I have read all in the series so far. The characters are engaging, likeable and are developing with each new book. Excellent narration too which always helps. Will certainly read more in this series.

Compulsive listening

I really like the depth of characters, and that the 3rd book of this series is broadening out to build the supporting characters.

The sex passages are rather graphic for my taste, however the love portrayed is tangible.

The attempt at dialects needs work, and people who have been to university do tend to loose the coarseness of pronunciation.
