Summary

Along with his volunteer work at the local fire department, running his Amish farm keeps Jamie Riehl busy. He barely has time to eat at the family table, never mind find someone to date. But when he meets Kayla Dienner, he is smitten.

Kayla tries hard to deny her attraction to Jamie. After all, she's spent the last year discouraging her younger brother, Nathan, from becoming a firefighter. The death of their older brother in a fire a year ago is fresh in her mind - she can't bear the idea of putting her heart on the line every time the sirens blare.

Then tragedy strikes, and Jamie wants to extinguish any flame between him and Kayla. Can Kayla set aside her own fears to save the love she was determined to deny?

Superb story

And superbly read. Gripped to the end. Worth every minute. Personally a good representation of working through grief .

BAD narrator

The narrator.was very bad. She didn't know the correct pronunciation of the amish words. It made the story sound ridulous.

Disappointed

This chick badly needed a psychiatrist. I couldn’t like her and couldn’t listen to all of it. I listened to last few chapters and realized she never got better so I was glad I didn’t waste the time. If this had been the first book of Amy Clipston’s I had read I would not read another by her. However, I have read some good books by her so I will give her another chance.

Great Story

I really liked this book, but I feel the characters from the Kaufman series were better developed/more real.

A beautiful story of new !I've and grief.

Any Clipston writes with a great insight into how grief and blame effects each of us. This book is wonderfully narrated with effective voice influx. Enjoyed the book.

Way too long!

I had to really work to get through this book. It was the same problem being addressed over and over and it should have been shortened by two to three hours. I also did not care for the reader of the book. In the beginning everyone sounded annoyed with each other plus the breaks in how she read the sentences were not natural.

love amish fiction!

I live in Lancaster Co and enjoy the local connection. Narrator was a bit "computer like", minus 1 star.
