Summary

Elvina Carrisford, has known little love and affection in her life. She is invited to be a companion to her cousin Delphine, who is to be engaged to the nephew of a French Prince.

En route to her new home she meets an enigmatic and handsome stranger, who rescues her from a wild blizzard and takes her to a nearby cottage. Here she and Serge, the stranger, sit out the storm.

He turns out to be the valet to an aristocratic traveller. Their short time together seems enchanted, but when Elvina bids Serge farewell, she is convinced she will never see him again.

On arriving at her destination Elvina learns that Delphine's fiancé has inherited his uncle's title and when the new Prince finally arrives she is shocked to find that his valet is none other than Serge.

At once she has eyes only for the Prince. In her lonely longing for what she believes she can never have, she fails to detect the noble heart that beats for her and her alone. It is Elvina's destiny to discover that people are never what they seem when it comes to love and all is revealed in this exciting romance by BARBARA CARTLAND.

Barbara Cartland was the world's most prolific novelist who wrote an amazing 723 books in her lifetime, of which no less than 644 were romantic novels with worldwide sales of over 1 billion copies and her books were translated into 36 different languages. As well as romantic novels, she wrote historical biographies, 6 autobiographies, theatrical plays and books of advice on life, love, vitamins and cookery. She wrote her first book at the age of 21 and it was called "Jigsaw". It became an immediate bestseller and sold 100,000 copies in hardback in England and all over Europe in translation.

Between the ages of 77 and 97 she increased her output and wrote an incredible 400 romances as the demand for her romances was so strong all over the world. She wrote her last book at the age of 97 and it was entitled, perhaps prophetically, "The Way to Heaven". Her books have always been immensely popular in the United States where in 1976 her current books were at numbers 1 & 2 in the B. Dalton bestsellers list, a feat never achieved before or since by any author.

Barbara Cartland became a legend in her own lifetime and will be best remembered for her wonderful romantic novels so loved by her millions of readers throughout the world, who have always collected her books to read again and again, especially when they feel miserable or depressed. Her books will always be treasured for their moral message, her pure and innocent heroines, her handsome and dashing heroes, her blissful happy endings and above all for her belief that the power of love is more important than anything else in everyone's life.

An irresistible page turning story

I found listening to this story compelling. The many twists held my interest throughout as I tried to guess what next would happen. I was anxious to hear the ending. A really great listening as the reader put feeling into a great story.

Chapters are out of Sequence.

A Perfect Way to Heaven, was a very interesting and fast paced read. Even though the chapters were out of sequence, they were initially juxtaposition to read somewhat like Flashbacks. However, Chapter 2, being placed at the end of the Audiobook, fully gave the error away. The flow and unveiling of the story was hindered, by the jumbled Chapters. The Reader has to pause, to mentally surmise at what transpired, before the current Chapter. This Audiobook along with Dander to the Duke, also by Barbara Cartland, both have their Chapters jumbled together. Maybe they were recorded and arranged around the same time, by someone who did not fully proofread the story. Goodness knows how many others of these BC Audiobooks have the same problem. It is a disservice to the Author and Readers to leave these errors in place.

I’m pretty sure the chapters are out of order!

I love Barbara Cartland. I’m pretty sure I’ll own all of her titles soon enough. While I enjoyed this audiobook, I’m almost positive the story is out of order. At first, I thought the story was progressing normally, then suddenly events that would have happened at the beginning of the story were read. I wondered if I’d missed the transition into the heroine’s memory, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t the case. Aside from that, the story was obvious. I knew right away how things were going to unfold.
