Swept into the world of cosmetics with an easy listen and story. It made sewing and painting time pass quickly.

The book was very long so kept me entertained for a very long time. I found it increasingly gripping after a fairly slow start. I couldn't put it down for the final ten chapters and listened instead of watching TV or listening to my favourite programmes on the radio!

The only problem is the division of paragraphs. The editor has not left any space between one subject and the next so two characters being talked about, then a straight continuation to other characters. This is not the fault of the narrator who is great but whoever edited the reading.
I am listening for about the 5th time, and each time I get annoyed having to work out who the new set of characters are. Penny Vincenzi is a great writer and I love her books. Sandra Duncan has a lovely voice and is a lovely clear reader. Just who is the editor on the voice!

I have read all of Penny Vincenzi s books and find each one better than the last. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the narrator was excellent.
This is the story of a grand dame of the cosmetics world Athena Farrell who established her company with her husband and gradually brings in other family members over the years. She controls everything until the company hits hard times and venture capitalists are brought in to turn things around.
The best thing about Penny Vincenzi books are her characterisations. It is unashamedly a woman's book and most definitely the one to take on summer hols. I would love to see all Penny's books on Audible any chance?

It was disconcerting how the author moved from one character to another leaving the reader/listener to guess who she was talking about.
However, I still couldn’t put this down. It was riveting and so realistic.
Quite anxiety provoking in some parts but still unputdownable
