Summary

Escape to Cornwall…

Summer in Cornwall is the perfect time for a fresh start…

Seven years ago, Marina Hudson’s husband was lost at sea. She vowed to love him forever – but when kind-hearted Lachlan arrives in Porthmellow, should she deny herself another chance at happiness?

Tiff Trescott was living life to the full as a journalist in London – until her boyfriend’s betrayal brought it all crashing down. Fleeing to her cousin Marina’s cottage, Tiff feels like a fish out of water. And when brooding local Dirk wins a day with her in a charity auction, she’s thrown headfirst into Cornish life.

This summer promises new beginnings for both Tiff and Marina. But are they too good to be true?

Escape to Cornwall with this emotional, uplifting listen from the bestselling author of A Perfect Cornish Summer and A Perfect Cornish Christmas. Perfect for fans of Sarah Morgan and Trisha Ashley.

Glorious read sets you gently down in Cornwall

Proably my favourite of Phillipa's Porthmellow books to date (I am hoping this isn't a trilogy and more will follow), helped by an excellent narrator who made a good job of the male as well as the varied femaie voices.

I love the fascinating detail running through the story of how the coastguard and lifeboat crews work - clearly well researched - and the concept of the Wave Watchers is brilliant. Transported to the beautiful Cornish coast as I took my daily dog walks in the rain during our very soggy June, it was easy to become immersed and invested in the lives of the characters. The first plot twist (which I had almost decided I must have imagined would come) arrived woven cleverly into the storyline and and the second one, at the end, was completely unexpected.

Such a well-crafted book - when you can imagine yourself right there, you know the author has got it spot on! Highly recommended.

Not my favourite

I preferred the first two books which were based more around the whole town. This was too much of a love story for me. Not enough of the whole town. Sorry

A lovely.....

storyline with some nice new characters in and only some of the old characters from the previous books. The narrator was very good using different voices for the characters.

Fantastic book

Absolutely loved it as I have all the porthmellow books, I’m hoping there might be further books to porthmellow, but this book in particular I love the characters stories and every bit about the plot, it was a book I couldn’t stop listening to, absolutely fantastic

Lighthearted story with a fun twist and likeable characters

Found the story easy to listen to and enjoyable. Really liked the twist and the character development. I thought accents from the narrated were questionable but she gave them a good go. Overall I good listen

Great story

But worst South African dialect ever. Sounds a bit Australian but mostly like a not native English speaker.

A lovely, cosy easy listen

Nice story, great setting and likeable characters.
The ending was a little predictable, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Lovely to be whisked away to beautiful Cornwall!

Unfortunately, I found the narration quite grating. I felt the narrator was trying too hard and over emphasising too much and I just kept wishing she would tone it down a bit. The voice for Tiff was particularly irritating. There were some stresses in strange places and unusual pronunciation, too.

Overall, a pleasant listen and a nice feel-good happy ending, thanks!

The best of the 3 books in this series....

...... or is there more to come? I really hope so!
All 3 of the books can be read standalone but all three use the same setting; an idealic Cornish coastal village.
I enjoyed the previous 2 books a lot and was delighted that the third book seemed to add an extra layer.
Ms. Ashley.... more please!
