About this listen

I have created this special collection of stories because…in my youth and even today I love the fantasy and magic of fairytales, and I grew up longing for a prince charming of my own one day. Of course being a little boy, back then, I tended to imagine myself in the role of a princess as that seemed the only option.

But happily times have changed and I can be a Prince and have a Prince Charming of my own…so I have adapted some classic fairy stories for other like-minded boys (and girls) to enjoy.

I absolutely loved every single retelling in this book.

Each one stood proud against the stereotypes of fairytale and were told in a really beautiful way, I especially love the (mostly) supportive parents in these stories, the total acceptance and desire for them to be happy and loved is wonderful.

I really liked that the introduction included a brief history of each story and their author that originally wrote it and how the new versions differ.

I really loved the strength and gentleness that each Prince demonstrated and really loved seeing their growth and development as they each go on their quests and find true love. Just wonderfully written and told stories.

Guy Veryzer has such a unique voice in his retelling of these fairytale and is just absolutely perfect. I would definitely recommend any and all of his books to everyone, they are so beautifully written and easily accessible to all I hope to find many more works by him.

Sadly there were some audio issues in the last story, it skipped, crackled and went a bit muffled but it wasn't a big distraction so didn't spoil my listening experience.
