Summary

Fairy and law enforcement agent, Dulcie O'Neil, finds her life is pretty boring at the moment. Her hunky boyfriend and boss, Knight Vander, is busy setting up the new world order in the Netherworld and hasn’t been around much. Consequently, Dulcie is put in charge of Headquarters for the ANC (Association for Netherworld Creatures). Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t have a whole lot to keep her occupied. Well, that is, until Jax Rochefort storms into Headquarters and her life.

Jax, who’s a member of one of the most infamous illegal potions rings, ups and turns himself in with little to no explanation. Dulcie takes it upon herself to solve the riddle of Jax Rochefort, all the while trying to dodge his obvious advances. Dulcie learns that the new Netherworld government is threatened by the potions cartels, who wish to see their own in power.

Things heat up when Jax kidnaps Dulcie, all the while claiming to be following orders for his mysterious boss. After discovering that everyone she cares about is directly in the line of fire, Dulcie must do everything in her power to ensure their safety as well as the security of the new Netherworld government.

somewhere in this book is a story but

I listened until the detailed description of sexual encounter and I thought "Where is the story?" I know its a part of a series but this long detailed sexual encounter had no reason it doesn't add anything.
What took pages could have been written so much quicker ie they missed each other, ..... later sweaty, rumpled. happy he says she says the story moves along.
Example see Faith Hunters Jane Yellowrock series where sex is pacy slightly descriptive and moves the story along.
John Conroes Demon Accords series here sex is suggested at sometimes with fun and gentle humour it's appropriate , left entirely to the imagination of the reader and again moves the story along.
This writer just leaves me feeling a bit queasy and voyeuristic (not nice) I'm no prude but this is just page filling at its worst.

Why?

WHY switch narrators at this point in the series?! The first narrator was much preferred IMO. WHY split this into two books. Obviously I haven’t listened to the next book but there was so much fluff here. I’m sure they could have been combined for one book that wasn’t full of fillers. Between the narrator and pointless ramblings it was so hard to finish this.

difficult to get through

the story was slow and boring which is unusual for this series. one of the main characters (Jaques?) was incredibly annoying. I understand not all characters should be likable but they shouldn't be so annoying that it makes it hard to get through the book. the author missed small details from previous books, for example, why is Bram back to being 300 years old? and why keep writing the dog into the story if it's just one line?

the narrator is AWFUL she sounds like a computer voice trying to do a valley girl accent. she has no ability to do various voices or accents either. I will continue to read and hope the remaining books redeem this series. and when audible is created for the next 2 books PLEASE use a different narrator!

Missing Original Narrator

The story line as usual is great but the narrator doesn’t lend the needed aspects that Therese added through her skills at making the individual characters have very different voices. That skill really makes a difference in an audio presentation.

A bit disappointed.

All of this series has been narrated by Therese Plummer up until this most recent installment. It took a while to get used to the new narrator, which I personally didnt like as much. Also, the overall quality of the audio just wasn't the same. I didn't enjoy it as much as the rest of the series.

A Little Sassy With a Strange Ending

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

The story is fast moving and completely centered on the protagonist. The other characters are just complementing her antics. I found the tone of the narration a little too snotty and the characters acting somewhat spoiled at times. It is not a book that you want to read on its own as it ends abruptly without any definite conclusion. The author invites you to listen to the next chapter in a new book for that purpose. Not a standalone book for sure, which I much prefer even when part of a series. That said, the writing is fun and fast-paced and the narration could be a little less sassy, but otherwise good.

pretty good

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Going in, I really didn't know this was a series, let alone that this was book 7. That being said, this seemed to stand alone rather well. It took me a little time to get comfortable with the world and the main characters, but I was able to do so, and found I really liked it. This book

Dulcie ONeil series

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

This is the first book I have read in this series. This can be a stand alone book. I enjoyed the audio book. The narrator did a good job. It is hard to find a good narrator to keep your attention.

Great Series!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. The narrator did a wonderful job with this book. The narrator did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to and I didn’t want to stop listening until the end. If you are looking for a great book with well-developed characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
