About this listen

A magnificent ball. A locked door. And a villain in search of scandal.

When Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy find themselves locked together in the library during the Netherfield Ball, they face compromise and scandal. Elizabeth’s startling solution to the problem causes Fitzwilliam Darcy to discover something profound—the lady he ardently admires thoroughly despises him.

Darcy resolves to do everything in his power to change her mind about him. With gossip and slander flowing throughout Meryton, this is not an easy task, but Darcy has never backed down from difficulty.

When the Bennets leave Meryton to escape the whispering of their neighbors, Darcy and Bingley follow, determined to assist the ladies they adore. The appearance of Darcy’s imperious aunt, Lady Catherine, makes the situation grow even more complicated.

Darcy can only forge onward, battling recalcitrant relatives and old enemies, in pursuit of the thing he wants most of all, the hand and heart of Elizabeth Bennet.

This is a sweet and clean, low angst Pride and Prejudice variation where all of the Bennet sisters have happy endings, with a satisfying epilogue.

A lot of the book is spent describing tea, cakes and the serving of such. Maids take coats and serve tea which was the work of butlers and footmen. Servants who are totally inconsequential to the story are named and the equally inconsequential tasks are described. But for Harry Frost, this is definitely a three star audiobook.

Lots of tea and assorted cakes

I loved the idea of being locked in the library and the story was really good, although I thought it dragged on a little at the end, but again really good plot. Harry Frost is a brilliant narrator as usual and the epilogue is great.

Great book again from Laraba

Cute story, but I wish the author had done a little more historical research. There were one or two references that really pulled me out of the story. The book also meanders and take a long time to reach it's conclusion. It feels like the story is over half way through and the rest is a really really long epilogue. Could have done with an edit.

Cute, but the historical inaccuracies annoyed me
