Summary

Jackson is aggressive, confrontational and often volatile. His mother, Kayla, is crippled with grief after tragically losing her husband and eldest son.

Struggling to cope, she puts Jackson into foster care. Cathy, his carer, encourages Jackson to talk about what has happened to his family, but he just won’t engage. His actions continue to test and worry everyone.

Then, in a dramatic turn of events, the true reason for Jackson’s behaviour comes to light....

Amazing true life story

Real life but very sad, wonderful Foster carer with such a positive, caring attitude any child in the care system would be lucky to live with Cathy Glass. Please keep writing, looking forward to the next book.

beautiful

Like all Cathy's books this was again so moving. following on Tillys story and also then Jackson's which was heart-wrenching. I'd like to add to anyone who disbelieves these stories or that Cathy's even a foster carer, you are 100% wrong. Having spoken with Cathy many times, you are so very wrong. This is a real woman, giving a real-life account. so please stop disbelieving her.

Yet again another fantastic book. its detailed so well but without it being boring. i felt like you could really visualize the story as if i had seen things happen. Amazing account of Jackson and Tilly 's time with Cathy and how Cathy helps them . A very sad ending which i won't put in case someone hasnt read itt yet. Can't wait for next book.

Wonderful as always

Another amazing book by Cathy Glass. I have yet to find a fostering story of hers I haven’t liked.
Danica Fairman is by far my most favorite narrator out of all the books I’ve listened too...and I have listened to MANY!

Cathy often talks about her home in her books. It might be kind of strange of me but I often think about what her house looks like. Although she describes her surroundings well, “kitchen come diner” or “landing outside the bedrooms” I wish we could see a layout of her home.

Never a disappointment.

I have read/ listened to all of Cathy's bills and they are never a disappointment (unless you count the disappointed feeling when you're done). You really feel like you know her, her family, and the kids. Coming from a family that has done foster care for years I can say that these stories are so real and so touching. I don't think people realize how much of a difference a good Foster carer makes even if it's a short stay. Cathy shows that with every single book. So much love!!

Excellent book, wonderfully narrated

As always Cathy Glass doesn’t disappoint. This book had me tears, both happy and sad, and sucked me right into their world. Danika Fairman is the perfect narrator for these books. I can’t wait for Cathy’s next book.

Boring

Just mundane, day to day activities and no real exciting or suspenseful plot. It was a sad story, but it just wasn’t exciting. I kept listening waiting for it to get better, but it never did.

Wonderful as usual.

I grab every single book by Cathy Glass. Coming from a dysfunctional set of parents, I always find comfort in her kind, caring demeanor. Denica narrates so wonderfully with her soothing voice.
My sincerest condolences to Cathy on her loss.

Sad

This book is sad but I loved it as I love all books by this author. I knew someone would die in the book and I successfully guessed who, but that didn't detract from the book. This was another great story from my favorite foster care author.

Cathy always has wonderful stories

I've listened to many of Cathy Glass' books and she never ceases to amaze me, on how loving and kind she is even when most carers would give up.

Another great book

Yet again Cathy Glass has written a brilliant book. Filled with several twists and turns, enough to keep me reading almost non-stop until I had finished it. The ending comes rather suddenly and is upsetting in a number of ways. Well done Cathy, you are doing a wonderful job both with your writing and fostering. Big thanks to the narrator as well, I rather like when the same narrator does all the books from the one author, and all of Cathy's books are narrated just right.
