Jess died in Afghanistan. The system brought her back.

Not to the desert. To the brutal fantasy world where she had already lived one full life, hit max level, and burned herself out saving people who took everything she had. Now she's back at Level 1 with every memory intact and every skill path mapped.

This time, she has one rule: no more heroes.

Jess knows which class builds lead to real power and which ones get people killed. She knows where the dungeons hide their best loot, which faction leaders will betray their allies, and exactly when the wars start. She has a decade of future knowledge and zero interest in sharing it.

But the timeline is already shifting.

A street kid with fast hands won't stop following her. A scarred soldier keeps ending up at her side. And a political operator building something dangerous is watching from the shadows, convinced Jess is the missing piece of a plan she wants no part of.

Jess doesn't want to save anyone. She wants the stats, the levels, and a life no one can take from her. But the system's chaotic magic turns every spell into a dice roll, and the people she keeps pushing away refuse to stay out of trouble.

A Legend Reforged is Book 1 of the Jake Ashburn Series, an OP MC regression LitRPG with a female protagonist, strategic class selection, military humor, chaotic magic, and a found family that forms whether Jess wants it to or not. 115,000 words.

A Legend Reforged is a captivating read that combines military action with fantasy in a unique way. The story sparked my attention from the very first chapter with its intense combat scenes and kept me engaged as the main character navigates a mysterious new world. The writing is descriptive, the action is exciting, and the storyline is easy to root for.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. Jess is the kind of character who pulls you in right away she's tough, sarcastic, and completely done with being the hero after everything she went through in her first life. What I liked most was that even though she keeps telling herself she's only looking out for her own interests this time around, she can't help getting involved when people need her. The progression felt rewarding without being rushed, and it was fun watching her use her future knowledge to stay several steps ahead of everyone else. The mix of action, humor, and unexpected emotional moments kept me engaged throughout, and the side characters added a lot of heart to the story.

A Legend Reforged delivers an engaging blend of regression, LitRPG progression, and character-driven storytelling. Jess is a refreshing protagonist whose determination to avoid her past mistakes creates both humor and emotional depth, while her future knowledge adds a strategic layer that keeps the plot moving. The combination of chaotic magic, clever worldbuilding, and a gradually forming found family makes the story feel fresh despite familiar genre elements. Fans of progression fantasy and overpowered protagonists will find plenty to enjoy in this fast-paced and entertaining start to the series.

Bought this on a credit and bailed an hour in. The subtitle says "OP MC Regression LitRPG" and it delivers on none of the three. The MC isn't OP, she's flat on her back half dead in a sickbed for the entire first hour. There's no foreknowledge payoff, which is the entire point of a regression story, she just wakes up weak and generic. And the LitRPG layer is barely there, a couple of token mentions and nothing resembling real mechanics or progression.
What it reads like is AI churn. Generic isekai sickbed opening, no voice, no momentum. And if you scroll the verified reviews you'll see it gets worse: full paragraphs repeating, scenes jumping around mid-page, characters whose gender and pronouns flip from he to she and back.
Deborah Roby does fine with what she's handed, the 3 on performance is for her, not the book. But the writing is the product, and the product is broken. Save your credit.
