The book was ok, the story was ok, it was spoiled by unbelievable irritating character voices from the narrator. The sisters voice was like that of a 14 year old teenager I don’t beliefs the narrated grasped and portrayed the character with the voice she gave her, also the boyfriend fiancée his voice was not fitting for the character it was difficult and cringey to listen to and made the book a harder experience than it would have been with a different narrator. I wouldn’t want to listen to another book with the same narrator I’m afraid

The book itself is one of the better free ones I've listened to recently. Not sure about the so called spice part, I prefer a clean romance myself, apart from this the story was well rounded and had some curious details with more to spark interest than I was expecting, I even added the second book in the series to my wish list to consider. It felt like the narrator was trying too hard as her actual voice is fine, I did get used to her style and found slowing the book down helped, although she was shouty at times, for some parts she read more sensitively.

I enjoyed the story, but it was overshadowed by the narrator. Instead of thinking about the story and enjoying it, I was questioning the style choices of the narrator and trying to figure out how to describe it. I liked her local accent and the warm tones of some of the voices. I did not like her poor volume control, straining to hear one moment before jumping when it became loud all of a sudden. I enjoyed that she was enjoying telling the story, but she got over enthusiastic at times, making the characters be odd caricatures with comically unreal voices, which were at times, really annoying. I hope she's toned it down for the next performances, but I won't be spending a credit to find out. I do think she could be a truly excellent narrator if she managed to tame her performance somewhat.

Sad to say the narration spoilt this book for me. The story was ok, although not very strong, but the narrator has a very odd style, shouting to create emphasis and weird character voices - the sister sounds about 12 instead of adult.
