Summary

London barrister Jason Jonquil has spent his entire life working to establish his identity as a gentleman, a man of refinement like his father and brothers. But when fiery Spanish beauty Mariposa Thornton walks into his office, he finds himself losing his grasp on his dignified character. The woman is infuriating, pushing him to the limit of his legendary patience. However, her case seems simple enough - a small matter of inheritance. Or so he believes.

Once a well-born lady, Mariposa fought to survive the brutalities of Napoleon's war on Spain. She braved horrific perils and undertook dangerous missions on behalf of those fighting against the invading French army. But her greatest battle still lies ahead: after being separated from her family, Mariposa sets in motion a plan to reunite with her loved ones in England. To avoid drawing the attention of the French, Mariposa dons a carefully crafted persona to conceal her true purpose.

As Jason and Mariposa are drawn together by the case, they come to know the people beneath the masks they both wear. When the truth of Mariposa's quest is revealed, the couple is pulled into a mystery that will test the limits of their courage - and expose the true desire of their hearts.

another fantastic book

I have read lots of Sarah Eden books and they are wonderful all the way through. They are well-written, thought-provoking, and entertaining. I particularly love the humor in this book. It kept me rolling with laughter. I can't wait for her next book.

Another wonderful Jonquil story.

The little glimpse of Jason and Mariposa I saw in a previous book, had me thrilled to finally get to hear their story. And like Sarah's other books, this one was full of love, humor, and heart.
Oh those poor potatoes.

Not for me

The more I listen to audible, the more discerning I am about what I like and cannot tolerate. All the pronouns, shes, shes and more shes. Sorry Ms. Eden, this one is going back.

Just really bad

I like her other books a lot but I really dislike the heroine, she’s just mean and I really didn’t understand the reason for it. I kept trying but couldn’t even finish it’s just boring.

A Fine Gentleman is a fine love story.

This is another wonderful story that involves one of the jonquils and a brief part of their family history.😁 You will find it hard to put down. You will laugh, worry, and cry.
So nice to have a clean love story.
Sarah has involved many of her and Character 's from her other books in brief form.

Beautiful

This was a truly beautiful and enthralling story. It is also a perfect sequel to the Jonquil family stories.
It is a pity about the American accent of the narrator for a purely British story even though she was excellent.

Delightful!

Yes, once again Sarah Eden has written a brilliant story line! Her characters struggle with personal weaknesses and devastating tragedy. And as always her description of these scenes are so real --the words she uses to beautifully describe a conversation, a scene and even the whole plot create a movie screen in your mind. You can see and feel it. A Fine Gentleman is a story about two people from two countries learning from each other until love blossoms--purely delightful!
