About this listen

Never pretty enough to please her gorgeous mother, Allie will do anything to gain her approval - even marry a man she doesn't love.

Lt. Walter Novak - fearless in the cockpit but hopeless with women - takes his last furlough at home in California before being shipped overseas.

Walt and Allie meet at a wedding and their love of music draws them together, prompting them to begin a correspondence that will change their lives. As letters fly between Walt's muddy bomber base in England and Allie's mansion in an orange grove, their friendship binds them together.

But can they untangle the secrets, commitments, and expectations that keep them apart?

The repeated miscommunication technique was a little over used in the plot, which made the storyline a bit heavy.

Enjoyable listen for the most part

Really enjoyed the drama and romance. And I was drawn into the bravery of the amazing pilots and crew as they fought the enemy so bravely in the sky,

Emotionally gripping..

Very juvenile in writing style. It's very "high school essay" in both style and content. The plot is predictable and padded out with irrelevant "filler" that adds nothing to the overall story. The character Baxter is the most unbelievable of characters I've ever come across. He doesn't hide his motives and yet, Allie's parents accept him into the family. The characters are weak and as predictable as the plot. Allie behaves as if she's 5 years old. This entire story could've been told in one chapter if the two main characters had told the truth. Additionally, although I don't mind Christian fiction, this particular book feels as if it's preaching to the reader.

Excruciating!
