When parole officer Jess Montell meets mafia boss Trace West at a hockey game sparks fly. That is until they realise they are on the opposite sides of the law. No matter how hard they fight it, no matter how much they are warned to stay away from each other. There are so many different things at play in this story. Family drama from all sides, so many connections between all the characters, it definitely kept me on my toes. Decisions to be made, not always the right ones in my opinion., I didn’t like anything that kept these two apart. I loved them together. The protective alpha and the independent cop with attitude. Lots of action, lots of surprises. Highly entertaining. I can’t wait to see where book 2 takes us, there’s so much more to explore in this world of secrets and organised crime. Narration from Joe Arden (he’s fantastic as a mafia boss), and the wonderful CJ Bloom. I could listen to these two all day.

I enjoyed this book. My only gripe is that the female narrator doesn’t put the ‘g’ on the end of ‘ing’ words. Found it a little irritating.

captivating story. Did not sugar coat things and told it like it is in real life - no real all round perfect solutions or people, just relationships you work on and people you care for.
Hated the end. That was not a cliff hanger. it's a precipice!

This book was really good. The story was interesting and had me hooked from the very beginning. I listened to it in one day!!

Trace and Jess were so good together even though they were such an unlikely couple. I loved the side characters and cant wait to listen to Ashtons book.
