About this listen

'Pemberley, murder, hilarity and a romance to span the ages . . . This is the perfect book to unwind with' – Rachel Wolf, author of Five Nights

Cosy, quirky and utterly enthralling, A Crime Through Time is the debut from Amelia Blackwell – the start of a series where crime, time travel and Jane Austen collide.

Pemberley, 1799. When Miss Georgiana Darcy attempts to escape an unwanted marriage proposal, she isn’t expecting to end up quite so far from home. But after encountering a mysterious object in the nearby woods, she finds herself transported almost two hundred years into the future.

Saltram, 1995. At a grand country house where a film crew are busy shooting the latest Jane Austen adaptation, a terrible crime has been committed. And Miss Darcy – newly arrived, impeccably dressed and thoroughly confused – is the only witness.

It soon becomes clear that, somehow, Georgiana was meant to solve this riddle. With the help of a distractingly handsome Irishman named Quinn and a border collie named Watson, she sets out to stop the killer before they can strike again. But meanwhile, trouble is brewing back at Pemberley and time, it seems, is not on her side . . .

Critic reviews

A Crime Through Time is an irresistible mix of laugh-aloud humour, gripping mystery and endearing love story. With Georgiana Darcy investigating the crime, this is sleuthing at its most charming (Saskia Sarginson, author of One Dark Summer)
Pemberley, murder, hilarity and a romance to span the ages, A Crime Through Time was an absolute joy! This is the perfect book to unwind with. Kick back and enjoy the peek into the world of Georgiana Darcy as you've never seen her before. I loved it (Rachel Wolf, author of Five Nights)
I loved this twisty, diverting romp which gave the freshest perspective on much loved, well known characters. Clear your diary to finish it in one go (Rebecca Reid, author of The Will)
I loved A Crime Through Time from the concept right through to the pitch perfect execution. It really is the perfect escapist read. The romantic chemistry is gorgeous, and I also especially enjoyed seeing other characters from Pride and Prejudice through a different lens, especially Anne. (Katy Moran, author of the Regency Romance Trilogy)
The concept is wonderfully original, and the voice is beautifully Austen-esque without ever feeling contrived. I loved seeing familiar characters in a new light, and the blending of the two timelines is so cleverly done. I adored Georgiana, too! Although this story is, at its heart, a twisty cosy crime read, it has a strong romance element too . . . I can't wait to read the next book in the series! (Emma Pass, author of Before The Dawn)
Cosy fun
This happy collision of crime, time travel and Jane Austen delivers an intriguing murder mystery while allowing readers a fresh and fun perspective on their favourite Pride and Prejudice characters and an entertaining speculation on what life might have looked like for the iconic cast in the months after events in the book. Blackwell’s depth of research, her allusions to the great author’s life and works, and her joyful love all things Austen, shine through in this time-travelling odyssey which heralds the start of another winning cosy crime series . . . this time with a delicious Regency flavour
