This is my favourite Christmas story of all time and Martin Jarvis reads this Charles Dickens classic tale of redemption perfectly. From the scratchy voice of Scrooge to the timid tones of Bob Cratchit, from the soft voice of the Ghost of Christmas past to the jollity of the Ghost of Christmas present, Martin Jarvis encapsulates the persona of each character brilliantly. I never tire of listening to this audiobook. Sheer perfection!

I enjoyed this immensely. Martin Jarvis is amazing in his ability to create characters through his narration and express the feelings experienced by them. And of course it is a brilliant story.

Martin Jarvis does an excellent job of reading this story. Like the best narrators, it seems like he is telling you the tale from memory rather than reading from the page. If you have a long journey to make over Christmas then this is the perfect length to put you in the holiday mood. I loved it.

Where does A Christmas Carol rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A favourite but not my number one favourite.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Scrooge. I love the way he changes with each Ghost.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

Where Scrooge realises that he is the body under the sheet.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It's a real feel good story to watch Scrooge become a better human being as the story unfolds.

Martin Jarvis is one of my favourite audio readers, especially when he reads Dickens as he has a natural affinity for exactly interpreting the characters.
