Summary

Verity Hawkes’ new life in Leafy Hollow almost feels whole. All the self-taught horticulturalist lacks are her Aunt Adeline and a stable relationship. Just when the second missing piece seems like it might be falling into place, Verity’s sleepy town welcomes back an all-too-familiar killer….

Suspicions run rampant when a body is found at the base of Pine Hill Peak, and the mother of Verity’s best friend is the number one suspect. To keep the wrong woman out of prison, Verity must rub shoulders with an arsonist, a hunky lawman, and a pair of dueling pastry chefs. When a scandal from the past threatens her investigation, Verity must act fast before the peak of her life becomes a valley….

A Branch Too Far is the third book in a witty series of cozy mysteries. If you like spunky heroines, laugh-out-loud humor, and charming small towns with big city crime rates, then you’ll love Rickie Blair’s Leafy Hollow series.

A branch too far

I like the story, although, I wish Verity’s character put up a bit more fight in asserting herself. My only complaint was accents, can’t remember if it’s in this book or next but the Jamaican nurse’s accent was the worse I’ve ever heard. Please if you can’t get it right then don’t attempt it. It’s insulting to hear it done so badly, this is from someone who knows what a proper Jamaican accent sounds like. Looking forward to the next two books.

A cozy mystery with humour

This is similiar in the previous books in that the main character has to solve a mystery that has occured in the small town she lives in. I love the different cast of characters and the humour. Not silly humour which some other cozy mysteries seem to have. I am glad that the same narrator was used throughout the serious. I got used to her voicing the characters, so I knew without being told who was talking. Would highly recommend this book.

Brilliant Third Book In The Series

I don't usually read this type of book but I got totally hooked after reading the first book and second books( watch out for my reviews of these coming soon). I really enjoyed getting to know the wonderful characters. This is a really exciting cozy mystery novel with a great plot and plenty of humour, adventure and a dash of romance. The plot is exciting and has plenty of twists and turns which kept me guessing right until the end. The whole experience is enhanced by the excellent narration by Petrea Burchard. I higly recommend this book to everyone. I received this in exchange for a fair and unbiased review

Nothing to far with this series

I really enjoyed this book and think the whole series is great fun and a must listen. On the whole it is a stand alone book apart from the situation of the missing aunty which brought Verity to Leafy Hollow in the first place but if you like a fun cozy mystery then why not listen to them all. I really like the characters and the hilarious mishaps they find themselves in. The mystery was good with plenty of suspects and twists to keep you listening until the end. Just a fun mystery with a budding romance, secret spy stuff, a best friend that can cook and plays sidekick on the adventures, hunky firemen, an over protective cop, oh and pets. This book has it all and is sure not to disappoint. Leafy Hollow isn't so sleep when a black widow is released from jail and moves back to her home town. Protesters soon start causing problems in the high street but it is when the body of one of the residents is found at the bottom of the cliff that the problems really start. Was her fall an accident? Suicide? Or was she pushed? Only husbands should fear the black widow, right? These are all questions Verity and the whole town is asking themselves. It soon becomes apparent that no one knows the dead lady as well as they thought and when the books don't add up suspicions turn to the mother of Verity's best friend. Fearing the police are about to make a big mistake Verity and her friends start to investigate. Then another body is found and things really heat up. Can Verity and her friends find a connection between the two deaths and find out who the really killer is or will this investigation end in a bang. I really like the narrator and think she does a really good job giving each character there own voice, which brings the story to life. A Branch Too Far

Verity is back in this third book in The Leafy Hollow Mysteries series. Was it an accident... suicide... or murder? Even though Verity wants to steer clear, she somehow gets caught up in the investigation. Rickie Blair has kept things fun and interesting in this cozy mystery. The quirky characters and plot twists will keep you entertained. This was another fine narration by Petrea Burchard. She does a great job with portraying the different characters. A Branch to Far

Once again Verity's life goes off the rails. She's out doing one simple errand for her friend Emmie when she had a small run in with Lucy. It always seems that Lucy loves to aggravate people and today it's Verity's turn. Unfortunately not too many hours later Lucy's body is found at the bottom of a steep hill. Add in a new resident who just didn't 8 years in prison for murder and a handsome police detective who had his eye on her and Verity's life just got hotter! Petrea Burchard is a fantastic narrator who brings the characters, especially Verity, too life! Fantastic audio and story.

A Great Listen

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. Verity has an knack for solving murders and finding trouble. When a member of her book club is murdered and her best friend's mother is a suspect, she can't say no when asked to help. This fast moving tale is full of suspense as unplanned misadventures add to the mystery, they're trying to solve. I will be checking out more books in this series.

A fun cozy mystery

A Branch to Far is a fun cozy mystery that is the third book in the series. Having read the previous two books, the characters feel like friends now, and I truly enjoyed sharing another mystery with them. I’m looking forward to the next book! The narrator brings the story to life with her animated and pleasant voice which is well suited to this type of book. I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook. This is my honest and voluntary review.
