Story
When it comes to truly finding out who you are and what makes you tick, there is one thing that needs no online subscription to a cloud-based server with a password you keep forgetting. That, my friend, is a shed. Your shed is your refuge. It's the place where you go when you need a break from this mad, crazy world. Once you're inside the four walls of your shed, you can do whatever you like. You're the king in there.

Story
Since we last heard from him, Guy Martin has restored a 1983 Williams F1 car then raced Jenson Button in it; helped to build a WWI tank; ridden with Putin's favourite biker gang the Night Wolves; competed on the classic endurance circuit; stood on top of one of Chernobyl's nuclear reactors and taken part in his last ever Isle of Man TT. Then there's the stuff he really can't wait to get out of bed for: 12-hour shifts for a local haulage firm and taytie farming in his new John Deere tractor. Besides all this, he's saved his local pub from closure and become a dad.

Story
Since the Stone Age, the "walkabout" has been an aboriginal rite of passage. It is when adolescent boys wander aimlessly into the bush on a journey with no particular destination. During this time, they make the spiritual transition from boy to man. It's a time for self-assessment and deep thought, when he can learn about himself without the influence of his elders, friends, or family. It's a physical and psychological journey.

From London to New York, Ewan and Charley chased their shadows through Europe, the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Russia, across the Pacific to Alaska, then down through Canada and America. But as the miles slipped beneath the tyres of their big BMWs, their troubles started. Exhaustion, injury and accidents tested their strength. Treacherous roads, unpredictable weather and turbulent politics challenged their stamina. They were chased by paparazzi in Kazakhstan, courted by men with very large guns in the Ukraine, hassled by the police, and given bulls' testicles for supper by Mongolian nomads.

Story
John McGuinness is one of the all-time giants of road racing, with a huge host of victories to his name. But his easy humour and down-to-earth attitude off the bike have always kept people guessing: what's the truth about the man inside the helmet that has kept him at the top of such a sport for over 20 years? His autobiography tells the whole story, from his humble beginnings in Morecambe and getting his first bike at the age of three, to working as a bricklayer and cockle fisherman before deciding to follow his dream, and finally to his many victories in the most dangerous sporting event on the planet.

Story
“Well, now I’m committed,” he thought to himself after telling a national TV game show audience that he wanted to ride a motorcycle to Mongolia with his winnings. He felt the fear that commitment always induced in him; he was hoping they might have edited that bit out. Commitments are something he tried to get as far away from as possible, the only other constants in his life being twenty-five years of financial prudence, travel and motorcycle obsession. So there he was, committed to going very, very far on a motorcycle with his meager prize money. Consequently, he spent a winter on eBay and a spring in the garage preparing his $1000 KLR 650 for an uncertain life on the road.

Summary
I can't think of anywhere I'd less like to be than in a car. When you're driving a car, you're not taking part, you're a spectator. You're in a can; if it's cold you turn up the heating, if you're hungry you have a wine gum. You might be looking at what's going on, but you're definitely not a part of it.
A Biker's Life is the dramatic, humorous and candid memoir of one of the most recognisable names in motorcycling.
Henry Cole's passion for motorbikes began when, at the age of eight, he was first introduced to a 'man cave'. His great-uncle Redbeard's corrugated iron shed was 'stuffed to the gills with old motorbikes' which Henry helped rebuild and ride. Since then, Henry's life can be charted through the bikes and journeys he has been on - from a stifling public-school education, via many years battling addiction, to the big-sky iconic routes Henry has ridden for over 20 series as presenter of numerous TV shows.
This audiobook reminds millions of motorcyclists why their bike gives them the freedom to be exactly who they want to be: to say 'I'm doing my thing'. When you ride a motorbike you become part of a worldwide community of kindred spirits - those of us who will not be pacified by driving a car but instead live for adventure, escape and the sheer thrill of the throttle.

Absolutely Ace Book
If this message reaches Henry himself then give yourself a huge pat on the back mate. Your story is not only humorous but honest, inspiring and and thought provoking. I now have a shed and in it I now have a bike, a Royal Enfield 350 kick start. I've taken it to bits and restored it and although I'm not allowed to ride it due to a brain op, I'm hoping to get my licence back one day. I'm with you all the way in your troubles and failures but like you said, you don't learn if it doesn't go wrong. If you were my neighbour I'd be in heaven. Keep going Henry, you are a breath of fresh air.

An insight into a Bikers surprising life !
As a biker of similar age (as most in the Uk seem to be) I could relate to so many topics in this book , and others that I had no idea of, and as an ex serviceman were totally tabo, but enjoyed it all. I had an image in my mind of Henry from his recent works , and that he lives just down the road in the costwolds. But suprised by the bits I didn't know about Henry, (enjoying my wife did) . listened to this while on a ride around Spain, on a hired gs1250 !!! ,as I was thinking of moving on to one. With the wizdom/humor shared here , think I will shelve that idea and think about something less functional and bland , and look at clearing out the bike shed and stating a project.
Great read /listen.
Thanks Henry.
