Emotional blackmail is a hidden, aggressive way in which a person close to us threatens, directly or indirectly, to punish us if we fail to meet their expectations. It is a powerful form of manipulation that exploits the people you have close relationships with. We usually think that the blackmailer is a selfish, devious, and mean person; however, this perspective is a weak explanation of this emotional phenomenon, because the reality is very different:

We need to learn to be better gatekeepers for our minds, bodies, and souls. Narcissism, entitlement, and incivility have become the new world order, and we are all in trouble. They are not only normalized but also increasingly incentivized.

Summary
Learn the manipulator's game, so they can't play it with you.
Identifying covert emotional manipulation is tricky. You sense something is wrong, but you can't quite put your finger on the problem. This powerful book will reveal to you if manipulation is at play in your relationships. It will open your eyes.
You will learn 30 tactics manipulators use to get what they want. You will also learn to spot the warning signs within yourself that expose covert manipulation is taking place, even if you can't identify the specific tactics being used.
This book is geared toward romantic relationships, including those involving a pathological partner. Even so, many of the manipulation tactics are the same as those used by family members, coworkers, friends and others.
Covert emotional manipulation tactics are underhanded methods of control. Emotional manipulation methodically wears down your self-worth and damages your trust in your own perceptions. It can make you unwittingly compromise your personal boundaries and lose your self-respect and even lead to a warped concept of yourself and of reality. With your defenses weakened or completely disarmed in this manner, you are left even more vulnerable to further manipulation and psychological harm.
Empower yourself and get your life back!

This book can change your life!
After more than a year of psychotherapy I still didn't know why I felt so insecure with my boyfriend of four years. It seemed like I was sabotaging the relationship, and I couldn't stop no matter how hard I tried. I was having emotional meltdowns I couldn't explain and I felt like I couldn't trust him. My therapist said I had an insecure attachment style but that didn't feel right because I'd never been that way before. I began searching for an answer that made sense and I stumbled upon this book, thank God, because the truth of the matter was revealed: my boyfriend was using just about every manipulation tactic in this book on me. I felt immediate relief and a sense of peace because I learned I wasn't crazy---my emotions were being manipulated. Now I'm free, and I can't thank the author enough! If you're feeling perplexed by the problems in your relationship, get this book. It can change your life.

Very Useful if You Had Controlling Parents Me
I bought this book to see why I kept ending up in one-sided relationships. I had a lot of healing to do which started with Co-Dependent No More and continued to this book where I learned a person who habitually lies is a manipulator. A person who invalidates how you feel when they are constantly saying hurtful things may have a personality disorder and is a manipulator.
Putting you down is never for your good. My dad is this way. So, by default I invalidated my own feelings in relationships. No more. Get rid of the liars in your life, and build your self-care and self-love routines so you can tell them you don't want or need them around.

The best I've listened to!
I listened to this book twice in two days. So much information is packed into just a few short chapters. I've learned about who I am, from tbis book, but what's more is that I knkw why I am tge way I am. I've felt this disconnect from life for so many years and listening to this book (The narrator is excellent and easy to listen to, by the way.) has, unfortunately revealed the horror of my relationship to my husband. It's helped to give me back some of my control and had helped me feel much less lonely.
If you're unhappy in your relationshio and can't punpoint exactly why. If you'reblamed for all the problems in your relationship and feel that none of your concerns are being heard. If you exhaust yourself trying to make your partner happy, but it appears that they never will be, no matter what you do. You need this listen! It could literally save your life!
