From the author of the Seven Sisters series, Lucinda Riley's The Italian Girl takes you from the back streets of Naples to the world's finest opera houses on a poignant, unforgettable journey of love, betrayal and self-discovery.

Read by Yolanda Kettle (Philippa Gregory's The Queen's Fool)

Nothing sings as sweetly as love, or burns quite like betrayal.

Rosanna Menici is just a girl when she meets Roberto Rossini – the man who will change her life. In the years that follow, their destinies will be bound together – both for their extraordinary talents as opera singers, and by their enduring but obsessive love.

Their love will ultimately affect the lives of all those closest to them. For, as Rosanna slowly discovers, their union is haunted – haunted by irreversible events of the past . . .

Praise for Lucinda Riley:

'A masterclass in beautiful writing' – The Sun

'Captivating . . . poignant yet uplifting' – Woman's Own

'Utterly enchanting . . . Prepared to be intrigued, moved to tears and ultimately uplifted' – Lancashire Evening Post

A version of this story has previously been published under the title Aria, under the name Lucinda Edmonds – now extensively rewritten as The Italian Girl.

I’ve come to this book after first reading the Seven Sisters series and then The Midnight Rose by Lucinda Riley. I rated those books all 5 stars overall because they were just perfection.
So I’ve had to rate this book a 4 simply because I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Lucinda’s other works. In saying that I did still enjoy it thoroughly and loved the Opera story line.

Gorgeous story about the Opera

It was not a page turner until half way into the book. After that it was very much so. Very moving and engaging about never ending love and the sacrifices one must make in life.

Moving

This story was gripping throughout. You could feel the passion, love, despair, hope and determination of the Rosanna from start to finish. Other characters added to the storyline brilliantly. Twists and turns kept the story moving. I didn't want it to end and when it did I cried.
The story teller was the best I've listened to. She was awesome with so many characters to switch between. You almost forgot the story was being read, it was like listening to a play. I cannot recommend this love story and escape into the colourful world of opera highly enough

Absolutely the best book I've listened to
