About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Sunderland, 1943: With the future of Britain uncertain, the shipyard girls fight to keep their lives on an even keel.

Head-welder Rosie is just about managing to keep her double life hidden from little sister Charlotte’s prying eyes. But Charlotte senses something is up and, with a secret this big, the truth is bound to come out.

After a whirlwind wedding, Polly must bid farewell to her sweetheart as he returns to the front line.

And there is something odd about yard manager Helen’s newest recruit Bel. But in resolving to uncover the truth, Helen might discover more than she bargained for…

Only by rallying together will the shipyard girls triumph.

The story is excellent, well written and read. Having listened to all eight books in order I feel I know the characters. The narrator is very good.

Very good story at the end but a lot of stuff said over and over again which was told in the other books I think the book would of been a lot better if they had of focused on the story line at the end but as I said still a very good book can’t wait to start the next book to find out what happens what a cliffhanger at the end

Absolute love these shipyard girls. I now feel like I know them all personally, their families, their trials and their joy! I never give anything away on book reviews as it's enough to know that these books are wonderfully written. If you are interested in the work that young women had to do during the second world war, their ups and downs associated with hard times, but also love and friendship. You'll love these books. The ending of this book was something I never saw coming. But I cannot wait for the next book!
