About this listen

A brilliant new Christmas novel from Sunday Times best-selling author Trisha Ashley.

Meg is definitely not in the Christmas mood. She’s never gone in for tinsel, baubles and mistletoe, and right now she’s still getting over an illness. Yet when she’s invited to spend the run-up to Christmas in the snowy countryside rather than dreary London, she can’t refuse.

Arriving at a warm and cosy family home in a small hilltop village, Meg soon begins to wonder what a proper Christmas might be like. But just as she’s beginning to settle in, she spots a familiar face. Lex.

Despite the festive cheer, Meg suddenly wants nothing more than to get as far away from him, and their past secrets, as she can. But if she stays, could this be the year she finally discovers the magic of Christmas....?

Fabulously funny, intelligent and heart-warming, Trisha Ashley’s brand-new novel is the feel-good Christmas novel of the year. It even contains recipes!

A wonderful story with quirky loveable characters that you wish would scoop you up and include you in their crazy life. A fabulous Christmas read but could be enjoyed all year round.

Trisha Ashley at her best

A bit far fetched and took a while to get used to the characters and voices for them. Underlying story was mixed in terms of interest. I don't like giving up on books so did persevere

Not overly enthused

This book didn’t really get off the ground until towards the end. There was a storyline, but it was a bit of a slow plod at times. The ‘tangles’ were improbable and the narrator’s voice where Clara was concerned was grating, and spoilt a well written character for me. In it’s defence, the family Christmas towards the end was feel-good and the finish was pleasant.

Improbable, okay though, if a bit slow.

I did enjoy this book but did find some parts were repeated, perhaps a little to often but otherwise a good read

Enjoyable Christmas read

Took me a little time to settle into this story, but once hooked I couldn’t put it down. It was romantic mixed with family intrigued and mystery. Very colourful characters throughout. I loved it. Well worth buying to listen to or in book form.

Good feeling audio.
