Summary

Featuring his famous literary Detective Atticus Pund and Susan Ryeland, hero of the worldwide best seller Magpie Murders, a brilliantly brain-teasing literary thriller by Anthony Horowitz. The follow-up to Magpie Murders.

Retired publisher Susan Ryeland is living the good life. She is running a small hotel on a Greek island with her long-term boyfriend, Andreas. It should be everything she's always wanted - but is it? She's exhausted with the responsibilities of making everything work on an island where nothing ever does, and truth be told she's beginning to miss her old life in London.

And then a couple - the Trehearnes - come to stay, and the story they tell about an unfortunate murder that took place on the same day and in the same hotel in which their daughter was married is such a strange and mysterious one that Susan finds herself increasingly fascinated by it. And when the Trehearnes tell her that their daughter is now missing, Susan knows that she must return to London and find out what really happened....

good but sometimes a little hard to follow

it was another good story from this author. perhaps not quite as good a the first as the novelty had happened.

I thought it was a bit convoluted at times and a little hard to follow. still not sure I 'got' or understood the clues in the Atticus book and I don't want to publish any soilers, but would be good to hear if anyone else believed the clues or thought they were contrived....

Would have got another 3 lots of 5 stars but

The narration was not quite as good as Samantha Bond had been in Book 1 - so I found myself keeping wishing if only...

But still an excellent book and a terrific writer

Long but worth the wait

I enjoyed this book very much, the writing is very well done, the characters are well written, I like the idea of a book within a book, it may put people off being so long but I think it was worth the investment of my time.

Another great read

Loved it, listening to it each night has been like being snuggled in a warm blanket. The story is enjoyable, I loved the break in the middle for Atticus Punt - who is crying out to be developed into a stand alone series.
Really enjoyable, highly recommended and a great follow on from Magpie.

I think its brilliant

I very nearly didn't download this book after reading other reviews many being negative, but I can't see the problem its a very good book maybe not on par with Magpie Murders but very close behind it. The narration was very good too again there was many negative comments about the this, maybe because it was a while ago I listened to Magpie Murders. But let me reassure you this book is great and the narration is also very good.
