Critic reviews

A twisty thriller that’ll keep you up way past any sensible lights out time *****.
Run Away confirms one of the world’s finest thriller writers is at the very top of his game. (Peter James)
Coben never, ever lets you down – but this one is really special. (Lee Child)
The plot is stuffed with spicy, sharply observed characters and snappy exchanges.
With Run Away, Coben's writing and storytelling are firing on all cylinders.
A true master of the twisty thriller
Few of Harlan Coben’s thrillers are anything less than gripping, but every now and again he writes one that exceeds his own high standards. Run Away is one.
Wonderful ... yet another winner
An edge of your seat read from the bestselling crime writer
Run Away is Harlan Coben at the height of his narrative mastery... as a thriller it's a narcotic... unmissable.

I have read a few of Coben's books before with mixed results but he's definitely an author worthy of attention. I enjoyed this one and while I wouldn't number it among his best it is also far from his worst.

It switches between multiple points of view including the admirably named Simon, a rather odd 'hit' couple and a couple of other characters. They are all well drawn and move the plot along at a decent pace and that plot included a couple of moments that definitely took me aback. Always a good sign in my book.

The narration by Steven Weber is sound making this an enjoyable read overall.

Harlan Coben poses the seemingly impossible quandry and then set's it running. This story is no different.
A great story, no lazy lapses in to simple cops and robbers, goodies and baddies, characters you can care about in incredible situations.
I like the characters, their dilemma and the plot twists of losing key people unexpectedly.
You feel for the 'bad guys' as they were huans with flaws too.
Despite sensing the twist at the end, it still didn't disappoint of spoil the story for me.
Great reader performance too, the whole experience was enjoyable.

Fast paced, well thought out and stylish
