Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Another Word For Murder by Anthony Horowitz, read by Rory Kinnear.

‘My favourite literary hero at the moment is Anthony Horowitz’ – SHARI LAPENA, author of The Couple Next Doorand A Stranger in the House
_________________________
Death, deception, and a detective with quite a lot to hide: the second novel in the bestselling series starring Private Investigator Daniel Hawthorne.
_________________________
‘You shouldn’t be here. It’s too late…

These were Richard Pryce's last words, overheard moments before the celeb divorce lawyer was bludgeoned to death with a £3,000 bottle of wine.

Strange circumstances pile up. Pryce was teetotal, so why this bottle? Why those words? Why did the killer paint a number on his wall? And, most importantly, which of the man’s many, many enemies did the deed?

Baffled, the police are forced to bring in Private Investigator Daniel Hawthorne and his sidekick, the author Anthony, who’s really getting rather good at this murder investigation business.

But as Hawthorne takes on the case with characteristic relish, it becomes clear that he, too, has secrets to hide. Anthony knows they must be exposed – even at the risk of death…

I am a massive fan of Horowitz’s work. I read the Alex Rider books when I was little and his more recent Sherlock Holmes books and other like Magpie Murders have been fantastic. I loved this book. Interesting story, well written and superbly narrated by Rory Kinnear. I would definitely recommend it and can’t wait till his next audiobook.

Yet another fantastic Horowitz story

Loved it, thoroughly enjoyable, can't wait for the next one! It was just as intriguing as The word is Murder.

Great sequel

Couldn’t wait to read this after the first volume and now I can’t wait to read the next one. Excellent plotting with enough twists and turns to keep any reader listening on.

Brilliant!

I listen to the first ‘Hawthorne’ book The Word is Murder and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have to say I didn’t guess the ending and neither did I with this book. I love the way Anthony Horowitz combines a murder story with his own work and I honestly thought to myself I wonder does he really know a detective and follow him. Stupid I know but this book is so convincing. I would have given the Performance 5 stars as I think Rory Kinnear is a great narrator but his voice for the female detective Grimshaw was absolutely awful. I dreaded it when she appeared. It was like the voices used in Monty Python when they were playing female characters. I expected her to say ‘He’s been a very naughty boy’. Other than that I loved it. If there is a third would someone tell Rory Kinnear to sort his voice out for female characters.

Another brilliant thriller

I have really enjoyed the self deprecating honesty on humour in these books. They are read very convincingly and a good romp of a listen.

Just love this series
