Critic reviews

An extremely twisty tale of obsession and revenge, this psychological thriller will quickly get under your skin - be prepared for some late nights 'til you finish it!
Expect dark themes and plot twists a plenty in this intense, creepy thriller
A very modern love story with an eerily prescient twist
A darkly, thrilling surprise
Aussie noir is all the rage at the moment and The Ex-Girlfriend is as grand guignol a slice as anyone could wish for
Gripping, dramatic and with twists you won't see coming, this book held me in its spell from the first page. I loved this book
I thought it was fresh, atmospheric, feminist and had me turning the pages into the small hours. A total treat
This cleverly written book by Moriarty sucks you in right from the first page. If you love a gripping read, with twists around the corner, then this is one for your reading list
A fast-paced pulpy psychological thriller with Netflix written all over it
A pacy, gripping thriller, but also full of heart and plenty of laughs for comic relief. Key themes of mental health and the different ways humans control each other and the importance of friendship shine brightly, wrapped in an absorbing, terrifying tale that perfectly captures the zeitgeist

The best book I’ve read in ages.

It’s ok. The first half does drag as other reviews have said and at times it got stupidly unbelievable; you would have rung police several times over before the halfway point and even with abuse in mind it feels far fetched. There are some twists however- some I saw coming some I didn’t which was a nice surprise and the second half of the book was far far better. The ending was odd though- it seems to suggest another plot line before just stopping very abruptly. This needed filling out I felt as it could have been done so well. This is my third book from this author- free falling and every last suspect are far far better but I’d still love to read more.

It’s ok

An ok story. Nice twists but not the fastest of books. Quite dreary at times. Simplistic in style. May try another from the author.
