If you can get passed the dreadful narration ....
You feel as though you are being whispered to my someone for 8 hours, the narration voice is awful. And you’ll find yourself wanting to look over your shoulder for eavesdroppers trying to catch the whispering.
... After 4 hours it picks up. The story, not the voice.
This will be the last Jane Fallon for me. Fell in love with QueenB but nothing is as intriguing as that book has materialised. I returned Foursome it was dreadful. Story was bad and bad narraters make it unreadable. Shame.

Another great book
I love Jane Fallon books and this one was no exception. Such easy listening with a fun storyline. A few twists and turns to liven things up a bit. As other reviewers have mentioned, the narrator is very softly spoken but I think it worked well and doesnt detract from the listening experience at all.

Good story ruined by narrator
I am loving Jane Fallon books each one has kept me listening and staying up later than I should - this story is no different.
However the narration is awful I often found myself being totally distracted from the plot by the irritating whispering and over pronunciation of certain letters. I felt the narrator should have been reading a mills & boon romance in a library - I have no idea why it was read this way but it spoiled it for me :-(

Why the whispering?
I’d just finished reading a Hilary Mantel and decided I needed something light hearted.
Getting rid of Matthew fitted the bill. Perfectly simple if predictable plot. Nothing shocking. A good holiday read.
But why did the narrator have to whisper all the time? I had to turn the volume up and down constantly.
Annoying! But the book in itself was perfectly ok.

Not the best Jane Fallon
I think I’ve now read four of Jane’s books but I struggled with the depth of the story with this one. A few times I wanted to stop listening but I carried on.
I’m afraid this isn’t one I could recommend

Brilliant book, don’t listen to the critics who say it was whispered (nearly put me off but so glad I ignored them)!
So true to life for me having met a similar ‘cad’ to Matthew at 40 odd! Brilliant wit, made me laugh out loud so many times. Thank you for a really good read!

Beware of duplicating this title!
I quite like Jane Fallon as an author and was looking for a non challenging listen so used up a credit to get this. It was only after listening for a bit that I realised I already had! I hadn't checked my library beforehand (why would you?) but I have this book narrated by Adjoa Andoh. Really hate it when this happens, 😞
