About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of The Rosie Result by Graeme Simsion, read by Dan O'Grady.

Meet Don Tillman, the genetics professor with a scientific approach to everything. But he's facing a set of human dilemmas tougher than the trickiest of equations.

Right now he is in professional hot water after a lecture goes viral for all the wrong reasons; his wife of 4,380 days, Rosie, is about to lose the research job she loves; and - the most serious problem of all - their eleven-year-old son, Hudson, is struggling at school. He's a smart kid, but socially awkward and not fitting in.

Fortunately, Don's had a lifetime's experience of not fitting in. And he's going to share the solutions with Hudson.

He'll need the help of old friends and new, lock horns with the education system, and face some big questions about himself. As well as opening the world's best cocktail bar.

Big-hearted, hilarious and exuberantly life-affirming, The Rosie Result is a story of overcoming life's obstacles with a little love and a lot of overthinking.

If you liked The Wisdom of Sally Red Shoes, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, and The Trouble with Goats and Sheep, then you'll love The Rosie Project series.

Critic reviews

This funny novel tackles tough questions about family and love with a light touch and a big heart
Fans of The Rosie Project will love this ... It's heart-warming and clever
Offers a touching and intelligent insight into autism, while Don's hilarious escapades keep the laughs coming
Graeme Simsion tackles some of the heavy issues of our day - autism, gender roles, political correctness - but his light touch makes this novel a fun and satisfying read
Hilarity is the order of the day in this joyful read
The final book in Simsion's much-loved Rosie series . . . Uplifting
A fast-paced, enjoyable journey. Genuinely heartwarming . . . He is certainly ending on a high note
All three of the Rosie novels made me laugh out loud. Ultimately the story is about getting inside the mind and heart of someone a lot of people see as odd, and discovering that he isn't really that different from anybody else (Bill Gates, 2020 Summer Books)
Superb. A perfect mix of humour, heart and insight
Excellent . . . beautifully and sensitively written, you will enjoy every sentence

The world of Don, Rosie and Hudson is wonderful. Written with such humour, enduring spirit and love I feel sad to have left their lives!

Feels like coming home!

Having read the previous two books I was eager to read this and I wasn’t disappointed, the humour in their everyday exploits and Dons navigation of being a good father/husband and person kept me enthralled to the end. Excellently read too.

Excellent

I think it might even be the best one yet!
I worried that this might let the series down but I loved it as much as the first two.
Really well done, great to have Don back again.

Thought it might be one book to far but.......

For anyone who enjoys a good story, those who are autistic, and loved ones who would seek to understand them better.

A beautiful and nuanced story including autistic characters

That rare gift; a sequel that is even better than the original. Retaining all the humour and compassion of its predecessors but adding new insights and some thought provoking themes. Why are certain behaviours only accommodated if they come with a license in the form of a label?

That rare gift ...
