About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Tom Clancy's Power and Empire by Marc Cameron, read by Scott Brick.

As the world shakes from seemingly disparate outbursts of terrorism, Jack Ryan prepares for a crucial negotiation with President Zhou's increasingly hostile China.

But when a routine traffic stop on an isolated road in rural Texas leads to the discovery of a stolen USB stick, it becomes clear there is a dark connection between the attacks.

With tensions rising, a US spy ship in the South China Sea gets caught up in a violent storm - a storm which threatens to push it into the path of the Chinese navy, with potentially disastrous consequences.

As the international summit approaches, and the mastermind behind the violence remains at large, Jack Ryan has no choice but to face Zhou. Little does he realise he's walking straight into the jaws of the dragon...

Exhilarating. No other novelist is giving so full a picture of modern conflict.
Fascinating characters with action off-the-charts. Masterful

The follow books are fine, if you have followed the story from the start great but otherwise a bit lacking in depth.

The length of them gets me, around 16 hours. Tom Clancy's books we all 25-40+ hours.

Good but it is no Clancy Original

I have been waiting for the return of my hero (Tom Clancy that is) . Marc Cameron has revived Tom's true style brilliantly and I sincerely hope he will repeat it in future volumes. The narration is excellent,as is of the pronunciation of the Spanish and other languages.
Keep it up Audible

Welcome back Tom

Still a great book, but not on par with others. It started well, but then with the story split between two archs for so long, the culmination felt all too brief. Still worth a listen.

Not the best of the series

I enjoyed this audiobook - I always enjoy the Jack Ryan books. But this one was more of an entertaining procedural story rather than a cliffhanger. As always the characters felt familiar and the story was good, but it felt like three separate tales happening at the same time.

A special mention has to go to the description of a coastguard rescue near the start of the book though, which I found absolutely brilliant!

Good, but not one of the best
