Six hundred years in the future, humanity has learned to cross the stars by entering Two-Space — also called Flatland — a vast two-dimensional realm where sentient wooden warships sail beneath canvas, and advanced technology cannot survive.
• There, humans discover a galaxy already filled with other peoples: the elven Sylvans, who flourish in the vast forests of low-gravity worlds; the dwarven Dwadelf, who thrive deep in the mines of high-gravity planets; and other, far stranger alien races.
• The ancient Sylvans, enchanted by human culture, have embraced J.R.R. Tolkien as prophecy and classic human science fiction as a guide to the stars.
• Against this stellar backdrop, Lt. Thomas Melville’s ship is mortally wounded in a cowardly surprise attack. With his captain dead and his crew shattered, Melville must capture a feral, sentient enemy ship — then fight his way across the galaxy to warn Westerness of a vast invading armada.
• Aboard HMS Fang, Melville gathers a misfit crew: a wise and beautiful Sylvan surgeon, a berserker Marine lieutenant, a deeply pragmatic first officer, Marines, Rangers, dogs, cats, and mysterious alien monkey sidekicks.
• Through turmoil, battle, and blood, he must forge them all into a mighty weapon of war. Now, hunted by two furious alien empires and threatened with court-martial by his own Star Kingdom of Westerness, Lt. Melville may have only one chance to save the galaxy — if he can survive long enough to enjoy the fruits of victory.
• In the spirit of Horatio Hornblower and Captain Jack Aubrey, with a dash of Terry Pratchett wit and a huge dose of J.R.R. Tolkien, The Galactic Two-Space War is high-adventure space opera unlike anything else in the galaxy.
