Improving your life is much easier than you think. Whether it's losing weight, sleeping more, or restoring your work/life balance - the secret is to start small.
For years, we've been told that being healthier and productive is a matter of willpower: that we should follow the latest fad and make constant changes to our lifestyles. But whether in our diets, fitness plans or jobs, radical overhauls never work. Instead we should start with quick wins - and embed new, tiny habits into our everyday routines.
The world expert on this is Silicon Valley legend BJ Fogg, pioneering research psychologist and founder of the iconic Behaviour Design Lab at Stanford. Now anyone can use his science-based approach to make changes that are simple to achieve and sticky enough to last.
In the hugely anticipated Tiny Habits, narrated by the author, BJ Fogg tells us how to change our lives for the better, one tiny habit at a time. Based on twenty years of research and his experience coaching over 40,000 people, it cracks the code of habit formation. Focus on what is easy to change, not what is hard; focus on what you want to do, not what you should do. At the heart of this is a startling truth - that creating happier, healthier lives can be easy, and surprisingly fun.
Includes a bonus PDF of graphs and diagrams.

One to avoid
I am an avid reader of habit and focus based books, so I was really looking forward to this. Unfortunately, I found it so difficult to listen to that, after struggling through the first few chapters, I admitted defeat. Firstly, the narrator speaks really slowly with a weird intonation, which makes the book hard to listen to and unnecessarily long. Next, the content is far too drawn out and convoluted. The author seems to take good basic concepts, and, to make them his own, complicates them with rambling anecdotes, unusual terminology, and impractical solutions. I'd suggest listening to Atomic Habits by James Clear instead, it's far better in my opinion.

Buy it, Read it, Put it into practice - it works!
B J Fogg lays out his behaviour model and teaches you how to use it. He is not just another chump with a system to sell. He is a renowned behaviour scientist based at Stanford and if you follow the instructions you will be able not just to understand the model but to put it to work... and it really works!

Life changing, one celebration at a time
This book teaches the skills of change. No matter where you stand on the nature or nurture debate- this book tells us how- by nature- our mind can be hacked to embrace and propel change. Changing what we do and consequently who we are. While there are many books on each specific area- for example. how to eat better or how to manage your finances, this book is more fundamental: how do you actually change your day to day behaviour so that you succeed to eat better or manage your money better. I have worked with the book for few months now and have succeeded in cultivating many new behaviours in my life. The principal I found most ground breaking was the importance of celebration in the formation of new habits. These are not empty, out of thin air, meaningless 'positive affirmations', but rather- well prescribed and tuned moments of shine, that wire in the new habits.
Get this book if you want to have a better life. This just might be the route forward.

Definitely worth listening to. BJ’s work is incredibly important and he articulates it so clearly and well. I believe this is essential teaching across schools, universities, and workplaces.

I needed a bike powered phone to listen to this
Although I was really drawn in by the narrator/authors story about his voice at the beginning, the very systematic and methodical approach soon turned this into a snooze-fest. I loved the story about the bike powered TV but I felt I sometimes needed a bike powered phone to listen to this on Audible (and I was already listening during my daily walks). Although sound methodologies are referred to, I didn't like the fact that these strategies seemed to be given names by the author. I suppose it's understandable but I felt a bit like I was in a factory having it all explained to me in so many easy steps how the process works. The repeated sniggers/snickers were also off-putting and only served to distance me further from the author. I only got as far as most of the way through chapter 8 (with a bit of skipping to get there) before deciding I'd heard more than enough.
I suspect this title is more readable in hard copy form than it is listenable via Audible - at least I hope it is. I definitely didn't find it to be a good choice to listen to on a nature walk though.

Perfect distillation of why we do behaviors
I heard BJ Fogg on curiosity daily podcast. what he said seemed at odds with alot of other behavior change models currently out there + well articulated I was sure this was worth exploring. Bought the book . but I find audiobooks easier so true to tiny habits I bought that with my audible credit. BJ s book is grounded in his academic research , so backed by his science.
I found that it explained alot of my behaviors good and not so good , so it gave a framework for me to understand my and others behaviors and gave me the tools to design and change my behavior . so the journey starts , this one has yielded results already, and feels like its a real game changer . the authors reading ,I found initially abit slow so I speeded it up but now I put it back to original speed, its somehow worked out better that way after a few listens. You also incidentally might notice that BJ has the personal touch.

A great book to read after reading Atomic Habits
I feel like this is an expansion of atomic habits except with more social science and techniques. it's a brilliant next step after atomic habits which I feel is a better introduction to small habits and behaviour change.
The shine method is definitely something I feel works which atomic habits only briefly touches on.
