About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

A love affair born in rural Ireland! Two mismatched lovers, locked in a relationship that will change both of them ... forever!

From the day I was born, I was brought up to believe that Gaelic games were invented for people too stupid to understand the laws of rugby. Little did I know that one day I would become a legend of Kerry football.

But then my life has taken a lot of unexpected twists and turns.

My old man is, like, the Taoiseach of the country. My wife is an actual Minister in his Government. And my suddenly teenage daughter is heading for the Jailtacht - and her very first rugby boyfriend.
And then there's Marianne ...

Of course, I was too busy becoming a Gaelic football stor to realise that my family - like the entire country - was being pushed towards a cliff edge. And I was the only man capable of saving Ireland's democracy.

Which is just like, 'Fooooooock!'

Hilarious !

Real depth of culture insight and political comment achieved through ‘shallow’ but very lovable characters.

Great observation of recent times, in a very Irish and familiar context.

Classic. Perfect personality profiles. Subtle. Frequently. makes you laugh out loud. Buy it or listen to it. You won't be disappointed.

Brilliant Entertainment.

I only found this series within the last year or so. I started with the second last audiobook. It's one of the best book series I've ever seen. It's a great mix of Irish humour, satire and writing. This book holds a special place in my heart. It captures the characters from different counties perfectly. While it's very funny, there are plenty of touching moments that bring it back down to earth from the chaos. It's perfectly placed, and I belly laughed more than once. Rory Nolan is incredibly talented as a voice actor, and you feel you're right there in the middle of it all. While the last book was released last year, the weekly podcast is still going strong. I can recommend this series enough. - Chris, 27, IE.
