Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
From award-winning actor and food obsessive Stanley Tucci comes an intimate and charming memoir of life in and out of the kitchen.
Before Stanley Tucci became a household name with The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games and the perfect Negroni, he grew up in an Italian American family that spent every night around the table. He shared the magic of those meals with us in The Tucci Cookbook and The Tucci Table, and now he takes us beyond the recipes and into the stories behind them.
Taste is a reflection on the intersection of food and life, filled with anecdotes about growing up in Westchester, New York, preparing for and filming the foodie films Big Night and Julie & Julia, falling in love over dinner and teaming up with his wife to create conversation-starting meals for their children. Each morsel of this gastronomic journey through good times and bad, five-star meals and burnt dishes, is as heartfelt and delicious as the last.
Written with Stanley's signature wry humour and nostalgia, Taste is a heartwarming story that will be irresistible for anyone who knows the power of a home-cooked meal.

As good as you'd hoped it would be
Have long admired the actor. Am now loving the writer. Bravo Mr Tucci, this is a wonderfully written culinary autobiography. Sobering towards the end but with the best possible outcome

Deliciously narrated by Stanley himself
I have been playing this Audible in the kitchen whilst making dinner over the past few weeks, having recently enjoyed Stanley’s wonderful CNN series on Italian food and culture (also on BBC iPlayer).
It’s a food oriented autobiography with occasional recipes should you wish to recreate the scenes he describes. The chapter towards the end about 2020 lockdown is hugely endearing and relatable then the final chapter tells the story of his 2017 journey with mouth cancer and his anguish his joy of eating and cooking might be taken away forever. This is definitely a book that merits from being enjoyed in Audible format although I’m sure the paperback is equally engaging.

Taste
An entertaining and amusing book beautifully read by the author, I would highly recommend it. The reader learns so much about the enjoyment of food in its preparation and consumption amongst family and friends over generations.
Quite an inspiration.

A fabulous book, highly recommended
I purchased this book after seeing it written up in one of the Sunday papers. Ii was not disappointed. This really is a fabulous book. Im a great fan of Stanley Tucci as an actor but had no idea of his culinary talent at all. The recipes he gives in the book are provided with such warmth and always a great story to accompany them. It is a very touching book written about his family and the trials that a lot of us face, the passing of a loved one is hard for anyone, however he tells his story so well. An incredible man, his book so made me smile so many times. Highly recommended. Particularly as the author reads it, it couldnt be anyone else.

Very Entertaining
So happy Stanley Tucci narrates this book, his book, because you get his wit & sarcasm in spades.
I’m off now to buy a hard copy.

Loved it
I loved it so much I started from the beginning again as soon as I finished it. I always loved Stanley Tucci as an actor and wasn't disappointed to hear his book. I'm now a bigger fan than I already was.

Was looking forward to this...
I Found Tucci`s "foodie" videos a while back and really love them, but in this book he comes across as a complete snob. His telling a story of his "humble life", although it does not sound that humble. Tucci reads the book in way that`s saying I am better than you and I know it. His reading of this book sounds just tired.

A life told through food
I picked up this audio book because I liked the series he did where he toured around Italy exploring the foods of different regions. I expected the book to be interesting and of course revolving around food but I was surprised by Tuccis level of knowledge and passion about the subject. I was also surprised by how amazing the recipes sounded that he unveiled through out the book, coming from all kinds of different sources like his mother's recipe for ragu to a recipe for a martini learned from an Italian barman. I hadn't initially considered this a recipe book of sorts but it is and with every recipe comes an associated story from Tuccis life.
What an intriguing way to tell ones life, through your experiences with food.
