Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The new heart-pounding novel from Sunday Times best-selling author Claire Douglas.

It was the house of their dreams. Until the bodies were found....

Bodies found under patio.

When pregnant Saffron Cutler moves into 9 Skelton Place with boyfriend Tom and sets about renovations, the last thing she expects is builders uncovering a body - two bodies, in fact.

Police investigate.

Forensics indicate the bodies have been buried at least 30 years. Nothing Saffy need worry herself over. Until the police launch a murder investigation and ask to speak to the cottage's former owner - her grandmother, Rose.

Owner questioned.

Rose is in a care home, and Alzheimer's means her memory is increasingly confused. She can't help the police, but it is clear she remembers something.

A killer at large?

As Rose's fragmented memories resurface and the police dig ever deeper, Saffy fears she and the cottage are being watched.

What happened 30 years ago?

Why did no one miss the victims?

What part did her grandmother play?

And is Saffy now in danger?

Brilliant

Didn't think I was going to enjoy this at first, but stayed with it and I am glad I did.

Best book I have listened to in a long time, I wouldn't class it as a thriller, but definitely lots of twists and worth a listen

Kept me listening

written in chapters of each player's point of view and all chapters connected smoothly.
literally hovered in the kitchen for 2 days to finish this one (my audible is set up in there.)
I did correctly guess who the bad guy was about 2 thirds in but if anything, that just made me want to listen more.
really enjoyed this one

Gripping story, good listen

Story line was good, it changed to each characters perspective but was easy to follow. The story line was good with a good few plot twists thrown in. One to read!

Great little book!

A good contrast of characters and time eras with a well thought out and yet not over complicated storyline. The character of Theo was a great respite and change of tone from the drama of the central characters. Great holiday or rainy day read x

OUTSTANDING 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I am already a big Claire Douglas fan so I was excited for the release of 'The Couple at Number 9'. I purchased it on Kindle immediately but I then saw it in the 2 for 1 sale on Audible and decided to listen to it instead.
This book is absolutely outstanding. It is full of twists and turns, some I guessed and some I certainly did not. I loved the multiple POVs and the two time lines and how everything came together at the end.
I literally listened to this book at any opportunity I could because I just wanted to know more and see what new revelations would pop up next!
if you like 'The Last Thing She Told Me' by Linda Green, you'll love this.
Highly recommended to read or listen to.
