Holly Newson: Welcome to Audible’s “Ones to Listen To”. I’m Holly and this edition brings you the perfect listen for each occasion. Ok, well, perfect is subjective but we think we’ve done a pretty good job.

First up for that 20 second hand wash that we’re getting oh so good at, this one will grip you from the very start...

Highfire

It’s modern fantasy, or dragon noir as he likes to call it. So, stick it on when you’re doing your hand wash, keep listening, you’ll get hooked, have a great listen from then on. It’s ideal really.

Our next pick is…

Locked Together

This one is a podcast and it’s brilliant for listening to while you’re working. It features a couple of comedians per episode having one of those video chats we are all now very familiar with. You don’t have to be constantly tuned in but it’s like having some warm and relatable company there, and it’ll make you chuckle too. Best of all, this one is free for everyone. You don’t even have to be a member.

Next up, we know that commute is long at the moment. It’s at least five or six paces for me to get from my desk to the kitchen for lunch. So, what are you going to hit play on during that walk, I hear you ask. Well, I would recommend…

Heartburn

It’s about Rachel, who writes cookbooks, finding out that her husband Mark is in love with another woman. It’s perfect if you want something funny or if you’re missing gossip, and there are even some recipes thrown in there. So, a great use of a credit.

And what about for when you’re getting ready for work. You know, picking out a top for the conference call. Putting on maybe a clean pair of PJ’s for the bottom half - treat yourself. Well, you need something to get you in the head space for the day. So, you could try…

The Squiggly Career

One reviewer described how it’s helped him to be more purposeful in his work, so it could be just the thing for helping you to get your focus on.

To switch off at the end of the day, or to pick you up once the government update has pulled you into a deep pool of overwhelming panic, I would recommend…

The Art of Rest

We all know sleep is important but what about rest? Well, turns out that’s super important too. So, give your stressed or anxious brain some ideas of how to switch off and recuperate with this one.

Finally a title, or three, to keep the kids entertained. There are currently three books in the Cressida Cowell’s Wizard of Once series.

The Wizards of Once

They’re narrated by David Tennant - dreamy - and they’re packed full of fun and adventure. I absolutely love these so hopefully they can keep you and the kids entertained for hours.
