Tim Ecott grew up in Ireland and the tropics. After studying anthropology he worked in films for a few years before joining the BBC World Service as a radio producer and correspondent. Always interested in natural history his writing about the underwater world led to his first book 'Neutral Buoyancy: Adventures in a Liquid World' which became an international hit. His latest book details his fondness for the Faroe Islands, an archipelago in the North Atlantic where the elements still remain central to everyday life. 'The Land of Maybe: A Faroe Islands Year' attempts to capture a way of life which holds onto traditions and community values.
