As an English Literature teacher’s son, Ron was exposed to classical fantasy early in life. He first read Tolkien’s Hobbit when he was only nine years old and has been an avid reader of the genre ever since. His first published work was a love poem he wrote for his childhood sweetheart. He was fifteen years old and already a romantic. The poem was published in his father’s annual book of poetry, The Sherwood Forrest. Since then, Ron has traveled the world, enlisting with the United States Navy. During the following 21 years, he married and had three children who are now grown with children of their own. He has five grandchildren, three living close by while the other two are scattered far and wide. Retiring from the Navy in 2000, Ron continued working as a software engineer for the health record industry until his retirement in 2021, becoming a full-time “Grampy,” gardener, handyman, and author. He currently lives with his wife, Cheryl, and their horde of dogs and cats, in a beautiful cottage near the sea in Virginia. He is working on his next epic novel, the Book of Loki, and following that, he plans to publish a collection of short stories based on many of the characters from this book. After that, he promised to write a Sci-Fi novel in honor of his father, Earl Clayton Pauley. It will be titled "Memories."
