R.J. Koreto has never been able to resist a good mystery—whether buried in an old house, hidden in a historical footnote, or tucked inside a complicated character. Born in New York City and educated at Vassar College, he decided he wanted to write fiction after reading The Naked and the Dead, a novel that showed him just how deeply a story could cut. His career has taken him from journalism to editing to a stint as a merchant seaman, all of which gave him a front-row seat to human oddities and moral puzzles—excellent preparation for a mystery writer. His short fiction has appeared in Ellery Queen, Alfred Hitchcock, and multiple anthologies, and his Wren Fontaine series blends architectural history with modern intrigue. With Winter’s Season, Koreto turns to Regency-era London, a city of power, secrecy, and shifting loyalties—and a place where Captain Winter must navigate its brightest rooms and darkest corners without the benefit of modern policing. He and his wife have two grown daughters and split their time between Rockland County and Martha’s Vineyard, where—fortunately for readers—old houses still whisper good secrets.
