My Name is Yip, his debut, was shortlisted for the Betty Trask Prize, the Wilbur Smith Award, a South Bank Sky Arts Award, the Society of Authors First Novel Award, and was long listed for the Walter Scott Prize. It was also a The Times Historical Fiction Book of the Year. His second novel, True Love, was published in 2024.
