Mauricio Chaves-Mesén (San José, November 30, 1969) is a renowned writer and film director whose literary journey began at the age of eight with his first short novel. A lawyer by twenty-one, and later the recipient of an MBA, he worked for international organizations—including the World Bank—and served as a university professor of Globalization and International Economics. In 2000, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, developing large-scale real estate projects comprising hundreds of residential units. He achieved millionaire status before the 2008 global financial crisis resulted in significant losses. That pivotal moment led him back to his true calling: writing. Novels Published in Spanish, English, French, and Italian, his major sagas—Caballeros de Nostradamus and The Atlantis Series (twelve novels published, with several more in preparation)—blend historical fiction with esoteric knowledge. Titles such as The Pyramid of the Apocalypse, The Oracle of Atlantis, Da Vinci's Prophecy, and Verne’s Vision offer a compelling fusion of adventure and mystery that has captivated readers worldwide, inviting them to explore profound themes and timeless questions within fast-paced, immersive narratives. With the spirit of a researcher, he explores subjects ranging from economics and philosophy to alchemy and mathematics; from ancient civilizations and hidden knowledge to sacred geometry; from the mechanisms of organized power to the intricate networks of global secret societies—addressing the secrets of corrupt elites long before such topics entered mainstream discourse. Success and Entrepreneurship Books In 12 Laws of Great Entrepreneurs and Think Success, read or listened to by more than half a million people, he shares his personal journey of overcoming failure and rediscovering his vocation. His works delve into personal growth and the application of ancient wisdom to contemporary life, encouraging readers to think boldly, act with purpose, and believe in their ability to manifest their aspirations. He maintains that failures and setbacks are often destiny’s way of redirecting us toward our true path. He also shares insights into the entrepreneurial spirit, emphasizing self-reliance and the power of decisive action in shaping one’s own future. Translations He has translated nearly one hundred major literary works from English and French, including The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, 1984 by George Orwell, and a dozen novels by Jules Verne. He has also translated esoteric classics such as Cosmic Consciousness by Maurice Bucke, Atlantis by Ignatius Donnelly, and Secret Societies by Charles William Heckethorn, along with works by Orison Swett Marden, Wallace Wattles, William Walker Atkinson, Florence Scovel Shinn, Charles Haanel, and others; as well as important biographies such as Autobiography of a Yogi and My Inventions: The Autobiography of Nikola Tesla. His motivation was to enter the psyche of eminent writers and present their masterpieces in their purest essence, striving to capture the rhythm, poetic grace, and vitality of their prose. At the same time, he used this endeavor to explore the philosophies and intellects that have illuminated humanity’s path—and to educate himself firsthand in the subjects he addresses in his own novels. His commitment to writing and his belief in the transformative power of literature have established him as a respected figure within the literary community. His works continue to inspire and guide those seeking personal and professional fulfillment, as well as those striving to understand the inner workings of global power—making him a beacon for readers and aspiring writers alike. His life journey—from lawyer to millionaire, from losing everything and starting over, to returning to his roots as a writer where he found personal fulfillment and professional success, and later making the leap into filmmaking to bring his stories to the screen—illustrates the unpredictable turns that shape our destinies. .
