Dr. Jordan B. Smith Jr. is an educator, author, speaker, and retired United States Marine Corps major whose career has been devoted to leadership, service, and student success. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in mathematics, he later earned a master’s degree in secondary education and a doctorate in educational leadership.

After 20 years of military service, including service during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, Dr. Smith began a second career in education. He spent nearly two decades teaching mathematics and computer science, with a particular commitment to helping students who had become discouraged or disconnected from learning. In 2023, he was recognized as an Amazon Future Engineer Teacher of the Year.

Dr. Smith’s writing focuses on practical strategies for improving student engagement, reducing chronic absenteeism, strengthening school-family relationships, and helping educators reengage students who have given up on learning. His work reflects a simple belief: every empty seat represents a student, a story, and an opportunity to make a difference.
